Week beginning 28th August

Another very productive week in Primary 7C. From developing our poetry writing skills, to exploring different cloud types. It has been a week packed with some awesome learning.  Here is a little overview of things we have done:

The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse.

We watched a video of the author of the book (Charlie Mackesy). Then we made art with motivational quotes. Mine was “Dream bigger.”

Science with Miss Ralston

We used a microscope to look closely at soil, sand, and gravel. It was so much fun!

Crazy Disney Poems

For our poetry unit we explored crazy Disney poems. We made 3 columns for objects, verbs and adverbs then we wrote something for each and combined them into unusual, crazy sentences.

Emotions Poetry

We wrote some poems based on emotions. Mrs Rasul could not believe her eyes. She said they were so good and wanted us to write them again on beautiful paper and put them on the wall.

Types of clouds

We learned about different clouds this week. The names of the clouds we investigated were Cumulus, Stratus, Cirrus, Nimbo Stratus, Cumulonimbus. Then we went outside to see the clouds in the sky and guess what they were.

Cloud scaping images

We were given pictures of clouds and we had to think of animals or people they reminded us of off and draw on them to bring it to life.

Week beginning 21st August

Our second week has been very busy indeed!

Cloud Busting

In class we are reading Cloud Busting, it’s about a boy who is getting bullied and we’re really enjoying it!

Poetry

We read a poem called Who are you? It’s very interesting and we created our very own class version.

Maths Relay Races

We got into teams of 5 and solved math problems but in the style of a relay race. It was so much fun to solve each problem and unlock the next one.

Team Building

For Team Building we had to draw on our friends back and they try to guess what it was. It was a way to discuss how rumours spread.

Class Charter

For our Class Charter we made a Football based one and we designed football kits and stuck our heads on the kits.  We have now got it up on the wall.

Blooket

Mrs Rasul also introduced us to Blooket. An online game, similar to Kahoot, which helped us practice our mental maths while having some good fun.

First week in Primary 7C

What a busy first 3 days we have had! Making new friends, meeting our new teacher and settling into our new class. We have:

  • Explored the different areas in our classroom.
  • Made some all about me art based on the book ‘Wonder’.
  • Took part in some STEM challenges, of which one included creating a name tag using a few materials.

“In our first week we all did a wonder all about me art lesson. We had to draw a boy or girl with one eye and also you had to write lots of words about you around your face and above your eye.” – Archie
