Week beginning 4th December 2023

Welcome back everyone!

‘In Maths this week, some of us were learning about calendars and how they work. We completed a maths calendar for December which had a mixture of questions.’ Erin G

‘In P.E. we played lots of games. One was with basketballs and the other was matball. I though it was very fun.’ Emma-Rose

‘We played a pirate game where you have to run around and escape from the tiggers. We used mats for a base and they were like a little island. I really enjoyed it.’ Christian

‘Some people in our class brought in things to show us. One had made a leaflet about the deep blue sea and the other brought in Malaysian money. I thought it was really interesting.’ Anna

‘Since the MUGA was so icy on Wednesday, we came inside and we did Just Dance and some yoga. I though it was really funny.’ Sophia W

‘This morning we were making clay fish during topic. Next week we will decorate them with paint.’ Sophia H

‘It involved making lots of spheres and you had to use division to get 4 balls from the clay. I thought it was really difficult to make tail but also a bit fun.’  Millie

‘For topic we also learned about climate zones. The 3 zones are polar, temperate and tropical. We shaded in the zones on a map.’ Grace

‘Today, we went to the present room and we picked a present for one of our family members. We were raising money for Save The Children charity.  It was exciting.’ Ava

Week beginning 27th November 2023

Hello, hello! We are back with more interesting information about our week!

‘On Thursday in P.E. we played team races. 1 team had to dribble the ball the other to pass the ball in a zigzag and you had to go back to the start if the ball was dropped. I felt it was fun and a bit tricky to get all the passes correct to the end of the zigzag.’ Erin G

‘In MUGA P.E. we played saucers and volcanoes and I thought it was fun because I haven’t played it for a long time.’ Millie

‘In Maths some groups were learning about clocks and some questions were quite tricky. We played little games with some of our friends.’ Alina

‘Also in maths some people did something called Beat the Clock which is a multiplication sheet and you time yourself and try to improve each week.’ Menaal

‘We also went outside for some of our maths lesson and we learned about North, East, South and West. I enjoyed it.’ Ava

 

‘We paired up and then put on an imaginary blindfold and our partner would give us directions using the 8 compass points.’ Oliver

‘On Wednesday, we did Outdoor Learning and had to find a living thing. Then we figured which part of the food chain it was. I found a human (Gregor) and an ant!’ James

‘In Topic we learned more about sharks. We had an eye spy task, word search and we had to label parts of a shark.’ Jamie

‘Sharks have been around over 450 million years.’ Grace

‘We finished our sea creature fact files and it was really fun. After we peer assessed them and I think it was really exciting.’ Sophia H

‘Now that we’ve almost finished our Deep Blue Sea topic we decided to pick a a new one! It was between Scotland and The Romans. We had a vote and Romans won! I voted for this and I am quite happy!’

‘Someone in class won Best beaver award! Here he is showing us!’ Erin H

Another person created a fantastic presentation all about turtles!

Week beginning 20th November 2023

Hello again and welcome back to our blog!

‘On Monday during swimming, we were learning about safety in the water and the different flags we see at the beach.’ Ava

‘The red flags means that there is danger in the water, like it’s unsafe to go in. The yellow, means it is safe to go in the water but there are no lifeguards.’ Lana

‘We played a game in teams and we were diving for sinking objects, like hoops with weights.’ Erin G

‘This week, we completed a new self portrait. We used paint for this and I liked it because it was calming.’ Aaniyah

‘This is my favourite portrait so far this year.’ Connie

‘In maths, some of us were learning more about grid references using all the 8 compass points. We also picked a theme for our sheet mine was numbers.’ Menaal

‘After we finished designing our grid and questions we swapped with a friend and they had to answer our questions. We swapped back and marked their work, it was really fun.’ Sophia H

‘Some of us played a time game called Splat and it was were you had to match up an analogue with a digital clock. I thought it was lots of fun.’ Jamie

‘In P.E. we used the basketballs to practice our chest passes.’ Alina

‘On Wednesday for P.E. we were playing football matches. I thought it was really fun but tricky.’ Sophia W

‘For writing this week, we were finishing our fact files. It was hard but also quite fun. I have learned how to add text boxes and research using Google.’ Gregor

‘It was Road Safety Week this week and we did a lesson about it and we made posters for a competition to send to the JRSOs to pick a winner. I thought it was a bit difficult but I completed it and I was really proud.’ Millie

‘At assembly the campus police officer came to talk about road safety and I thought it was really interesting.’ Grace

Week beginning 6th November 2023

Hi all!

‘For PE we did hockey. We played a few games and it was fun!’ Robbie

‘On Thursday’s P.E. we played our last game of Kingball and we released the golden snitch ball. It was caught three times during the game.’ Edward

‘During writing, we finished our stories by adding some finishing touches. I thought this very fun and some even read theirs out.’ Jaxon

‘In Maths, we learning about times tables and vertical calculations. We got a partners and did Zappers. I thought this was really fun.’ Millie

‘On Friday we were researching sea creatures of our choice, looking at facts and making  notes.’ Lana

‘I learned that 100,000 dolphins are poached every year by researching on the chrome books.’ Menaal

Week beginning 20th October (Halloween week!)

Hi all, welcome back!

In maths this week, we were  learning more times tables.’ Sophia W

‘We also were learning about grid references. We had a grid with letters and numbers. The phrase we learned to help us was, along the corridor and up the stairs.’ Edward

‘Also, we had a maths calendar for October and we found a partner and had to see how many questions we could do. This was tricky but fun!’ Lana

‘In P.E. we were learning more about Kingball, this week the golden snitch rule was introduced. This can be released at any time, if the King/Queen catches it you can pick 2 people to join the bench with you.’ Sophia H

‘We did some home learning during the strike. I liked this a little as it was a bit quieter at home.’ James

‘In ICT with Miss Bishop, we were learning how to log into Big Cat for reading books and home learning. It was a bit difficult but I got it in the end.’ Millie

‘On Friday, we were writing stories using our story mountain to help us write our ideas. I thought this was hard but fun!’ Anna

‘In Health and Wellbeing, we filled out a questionnaire about our feelings about learning. This is called Growth Mindset.’ Ava

‘In Art, we finished off our monthly portraits using felt tip pens. I think that art is fun and good.’ Alexander

Hi again, we have been busy this week!

‘We have another teacher Miss Bishop, she joined us this week! She likes to do ICT.’ Jaxon

‘We also helped her learn more about us by filling out a little sheet about ourselves.’ Alina

‘In Maths, we were learning more about our times tables. We got a special booklet to help us learn these better.’ Ava

‘On Google Classroom there was a train game for us. Some of us worked on addition and some worked on times tables.’ Gregor

 

‘For Deep Blue Sea lessons, we were researching food chains, for what eats what.’ Menaal

‘There were 5 possible food chains from the animals on our sheet and we had to make a food chain each.’ Sophia H

‘I felt that the work was hard but fun!’ James

‘Today in writing we were starting to plan a story including a villain and a special object.’ Sophia W

‘We also had a sheet on adjectives and we had to create an alien-how they felt, looked and their colour.’ Anna

Hello there and welcome back!

‘This week we created our own abstract art of ourselves, using paper that we cut into funny shapes.’ Jamie

‘The artist we looked at was Pablo Picasso, who lived in Spain and at some point moved to Paris.’ Gregor

‘Pablo Picasso had 23 middle names!’ James

‘In our Topic lessons, we learned about food chains and what eats the producers, which are at the start of the food chain. We learned what eats the consumers, then the decomposers end the food chain and it all starts again.’ Edward

‘The sun always starts the food chain.’ Sophia H

‘On Wednesday. we went to the woodland and made bug habitats. We had to decide if they were producers, consumers or a decomposers. We did this by figuring out if they eat any other animals.’ Millie

‘We also went to the MUGA to play football and we ran around the MUGA 3 times to warm up.’ Alina

‘On Thursday P.E. we learned about chest passes and shoulder passes and we also played Kingball! I thought it was fun!’ Anna

‘During our writing lesson, we were taking the characters we created 2 weeks ago and made up  a setting for it to live in. I thought it was a bit tricky but also fun.’ Erin G

‘We had to include some or all of the senses. My character could feel the warm sun on its shell.’ Connie

‘After we did our writing for 10minutes, we found a partner and read out our paragraphs. I liked hearing Sophia H’s and Alina’s writing.’  Menaal

Week beginning 2nd October

Hello again everyone!

‘In Art this week, we used pastels to make pictures of sea creatures.’ James

‘We had to smudge the background with 3 different colours and the animal had to be drawn in black pastel.’ Emily

‘The artist was Jean-Michel Basquiat.’ Ruaridh

‘For Maths Week Scotland we made paper planes and we went outside and threw them to see which one went the furthest.’ Ava

‘There were 5 different designs and the Mr Eadie special went the furthest.’ Erin G

‘We measured in metres and worked out the average distance.’ Erin H

 

‘Another challenge for Maths Week, was to use Kapla blocks to make marble runs and I thought mine and Robbie’s was very good.’ Jaxon

‘At the end of the lesson, we tested out everyone’s marble run to see if they worked. I really liked everyone’s designs and I thought they were very creative.’ Sophia H

‘In P.E. we learned a new game called King Ball! It is a team game but you have to stand still if you are throwing the ball.’ Sophia W

‘Our team won, as we had 5 kings/queens and the other team had 1.’ Jaxon

‘Me and Ava were the king/queens, we had to stand on benches and try and catch the ball. It was so fun!’ Finlay

‘At assembly, some people went up and explained what we did during Maths week, I was one of them!’ Millie

‘In literacy we were learning about verbs and nouns. We had to underline the verbs with a partner.’ Leiyaa

 

‘We played mat ball in P.E. and we did a warm up called numbers.’ Ava

‘We played played piggy in the middle because we were trying to practise our throwing and catching skills.’ Edward

‘On Wednesday’s P.E. we played hockey and we were practising our push pass.’ Jaxon

 

‘In maths, some people were learning about bus stop division.’ Sophia W

‘It was hard at the start but it got easier!’ James

Some people in class brought in special objects. A Keith Haring bag from NYC and  Chocolate Chip and Mr Brownie the owls from Brownies. They joined us for P.E.!

Week Beginning 11th September 2023

Welcome back!

‘This week we had a music lesson outside. We played a game and you had to bounce, catch and throw to someone. We sang a song and bounced a ball on the beat.’ Sophia W

‘We also were counting the beats and clapping our hands whilst the person in the middle bounced the ball.’ Sophia H

 

‘In our new topic Deep Blue Sea, we were learning about the continents, seas and oceans. We had to stick them onto a piece of paper to create a flat map.’ Millie

‘Also we learned about the layers and that there are 5.’ Emily

‘In the layers of the ocean, there are different sea creatures that live there. The deeper we go the water gets darker and colder.’ Anna

‘In Maths, some of us were learning our 4 and 8 times table. We played some board games and some Chromebook games.’ James

‘In Literacy we had to find the adjectives and similes in the sentences. They were all about Spiderman.’ Annie

‘We are writing character profiles and we have to include adjectives, similes and metaphors.’ Samuel

‘We watched a video about similes and metaphors and it was funny, everyone laughed!’ Edward
