Friday 26th April

What a busy week we have had with Miss Jackson and Mrs Norman!

We planted cress seeds and we are responsible for making sure they get lots of water, sun light and space!

In the woodland we went on a hunt to some plants and some good areas to grow our own plants!

We have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk this week and in the woodland we were thinking about activities we could do linked to things like giant footsteps!

We found a worm!

This could be the beanstalk from our story!

We introduced leaflet making in our writing area.

On Thursday Mrs Norman found Jack and the Beanstalk challenge cards in her bag! We had so much fun trying to find solutions.

We made a garden for the man who gave Jack the magic beans. ]

We were measuring the garden in giant foorsteps and regular footsteps.

We made a giants castle. We were working out what would happen if there were more or less magic beans. We made a map of Jack’s home town.

We made a daily agenda for the giant.

In the afternoon we planted runner beans in bags in our classroom so we could watch them grow.

What a busy week we have had!! Have a great weekend!

Crookfur Cultural Week

This week we have been learning about Eid and that led us to asking lots of questions about all the cultures that are represented in our school.

We built mosques and other religious buildings.

We created henna patterns.

We learned some Bollywood dancing and then we were inspired to learn about dances from other cultures and countries.

In our class we have links to Malaysia, Latvia, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, England, South Africa, Pakistan, Northern Ireland, Spain, Greece, Australia, Thailand, China, America, Canada and Scotland!

We enjoyed the Greek dancing the most!

On Thursday afternoon we made chocolate covered dates! Most of us enjoyed eating them.

Some of the class used our fabrics to create prayer mats. We had some excellent helpers teaching us how to do it.

On Friday morning we got the chance to get some henna on!

We have had a great week!

Friday 22nd March

Primary 2 continued to investigate art and a range of artists this week. As you can see we are exploring not only the art styles but the inspiration behind them.   We really enjoyed our visit from Mr Wilson on Friday when he came to teach us about the artist Piet Mondrian. We can’t wait until Monday and we can show Mr Wilson our finished works of art. This week we have enjoyed the first of our ‘Show and Tell’ sessions. All the children who have shared so far have confidently told us all about their special item and why they selected it. It has been lovely to see such a varied range of discussion topics and see the children’s confidence grow, not only as the speaker but by asking inquisitive questions. Well done Primary 2C! Here are a few of our speakers from this week. Have a wonderful weekend!

P2C are artists!!!

This week we discovered that we are all super artists!

We learned about mixing colours, using line, shape and colour in a picture.

We created our own artwork, inspired by Pablo Picasso.

We thought carefully about the detail when we were creating our own.

Friday 8th March

Primary 2C have had a fantastic week celebrating World Book Day and nurturing a love of reading.

After reading ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ our classroom chairs decided they were going to quit until we remembered to always treat them with respect. We had to get creative about where to work in the classroom without seats. Thankfully as a class we wrote some very persuasive letters and the chairs returned to us!

On World Book Day Primary 7 came down to our class to read us the books they had written and illustrated.

Friday 1st March

The children were so excited for the first day of Spring today. We are looking forward to exploring Spring over the next few weeks.

On Monday we were working on our reading and writing skills by learning a new game. Why not ask us to play it at home.

On Monday afternoon we were very lucky and got to do a video call with a BBC Scotland weather reporter who taught us some Gaelic songs and words as well as telling us all about how she can forecast the weather. Thank you to our friends in the other Primary 2 classes for organising and joining us.

In the woodland we decided to let our creative sides free and create pictures using only things we found outside. We think you will agree they all look fantastic!

As we were leaving the woodland the rain started and very soon a rainbow, we all enjoyed dancing in the rain!!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Friday 23rd February

This week our outdoor PE got cancelled because of the rain! We improvised and moved our tables in the classroom to start learning some tennis skills!

We had such good fun with tennis.

The balls kept bouncing away.

It was hard at first, but it did get easier.

We really liked it!

On Wednesday and Thursday we got to join a video call with a BBC weather reporter to learn some Gaelic as part of our Super Scotland topic.

Happy weekend!

Friday 16th February

Primary 2C hope you enjoyed coming in to visit us last week for the open afternoons.

This week we visited the front corridor to see our house banners. We created them at the house spirit afternoon led by the house captains. We enjoyed pointing out our own flowers.

This week we got more equipment for jumping and balancing in gymnastics.

It was like a gymnastics obstacle course with different stations. We worked in groups together.

I enjoyed the forward rolling.

I enjoyed doing all the obstacle course tasks.

I liked doing everything!

I liked doing the pencil jump off the high bench.

Have a lovely weekend!!

Last weeks learning

We were so busy last week we wanted to share some more of our learning with you.

We were learning about different types of Scottish animals.

There were lots of facts about the animals that we used to make a poster.

In the woodland we were focusing on Scotland themed activities.

We were making some bridges.

We made some flags.

We got covered in mud!   We worked together.

We shared some Scottish things we had at home.

With Miss McLemon we were looking at the moon and stars.

In Numeracy we looked at different ways to collect information and share it for our data handling topic.

Have a great week P2C!
