Last weeks learning

We were so busy last week we wanted to share some more of our learning with you.

We were learning about different types of Scottish animals.

There were lots of facts about the animals that we used to make a poster.

In the woodland we were focusing on Scotland themed activities.

We were making some bridges.

We made some flags.

We got covered in mud!   We worked together.

We shared some Scottish things we had at home.

With Miss McLemon we were looking at the moon and stars.

In Numeracy we looked at different ways to collect information and share it for our data handling topic.

Have a great week P2C!

Friday 2nd February

Hello,

We had such a busy Friday afternoon with Mr Wilson in class we never got to look through our blog photographs to share our learning!

We will look at them together on Monday and share a blog then.

For now here is a preview of our afternoon…

On Thursday it was Burn’s Day. In our writing we wrote about Scottish characters. We really enjoyed dressing up in some tartan to get into the Scottish spirit.

We wrote about different characters we knew from stories. Some people wrote about Rabbie Burn’s whilst others wrote about Katie Morag, Merida or Mr MacTout from Family Ness cartoon.

In maths we were learning all about playing different games to help us with our reading and number skills.

Some of us were very resilient when we didn’t win. There was lots of fun and laughter had.

Happy weekend everyone!!

Friday 19th January

This week we have been continuing our learning about Super Scotland!!

On Monday we looked at maps inside an Atlas that showed parts of Scotland.

We liked looking at the different places we recognised.

There were pictures of places we had been. We found Hadrian’s Wall, Newton Mearns, Glasgow and we even found the islands our school houses are named after!

On Tuesday it was very cold so we sat out some ice in a tray to see how long it took to freeze.

By Wednesday morning it had frozen. When we brought it into the class it started thaw which made the centre part spin round. It made the animals look like they were ice skating!

We went outside and put other things in our own trays to make frozen pictures!

On Thursday we learnt about tartan and how it is made. Vertical and horizontal lines are used to create a pattern.

Tartan use to be banned in Scotland until only a few hundred years ago. We found some of our own family tartans.

We made our own tartan patterns and found some tartan material to wear in the classroom.

We continued to build Scottish landmarks in the classroom.

Look at Edinburgh Castle!

Have a great weekend!

Welcome back! January 2024

On Monday it was lovely to welcome everyone back into school.

We started our Super Scotland topic by learning a little bit about Scotland and making a cover for our Scotland topic books.

On Tuesday we went out into our playground to have a look at different types of homes we find in Scotland. We found a really interesting one in the grounds of Eastwood High. Did you know that Caplerig House is over 250 years old!

On Wednesday Miss McLemon was in our class all day and we started to look at our day and night topic in science.

On Thursday when we went to P.E. we started our gymnastics block. As you can see from the photos we are all super stars at making shapes and moving safely around the gym!

On Friday at assembly we learned that we will have a house spirit afternoon next week and that this months double house points are for ‘being curious’.

Have a super weekend!

Friday 22nd December – Last Day of Term!!

On Monday we had our Christmas Party!!

It was fun!

We were great at the limbo!

We wrote about living in a snow globe.

We watched a story called The Snow globe Family. We also listened to songs about being in a snow globe.

We created our own snow globes. We hope we can look back at them over the years and remember our fabulous times in Primary 2.

Some Primary 7’s came to our class and taught us a lesson about winter.

We created penguins with paint.

In our digital advent calendar we were challenged to make a snowman in groups.

We needed to plan our snowman.

We then had to create them using different things from the classroom.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and gets to relax and spend time with friends and family.

I will see you all in 2024!!!

Friday 15th December

We had a great time at our Nativity this week. Thank you to all our grown ups for attending our show on Thursday. On Tuesday we had our dress rehearsal for Primary 7 and they were a great audience.

Information for next week –

On Monday we have our Christmas Party. Children are welcome to come to school in their party clothes but please consider footwear for playtime and lunchtime. You may wish to pop a change of shoes in their bag.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we will be working on our Christmas craft – can you please ensure you have a large shirt / t-shirt to cover the children’s clothing to ensure we can keep our uniform tidy.

On Friday school finishes at 2.30pm.

Have a fabulous weekend Primary 2C!

Friday 8th December

This week we were learning about weight.

We made our scales at the tuff tray and used a hanger to make a scale.

We sorted things that were light and heavy.

We were sorting the shells to see what ones were heavier.

We were weighing the animals.

We used the board to answer true and false questions.

Did you know a Triceratops is 4.2million gummy bears in weight!

A cow weighs 2,222 cartons of milk.

We made a bridge on a construction site. We were builders. We made little humans cross the bridge and the cars had to go under it.

We made a safe castle for animals.

Not everyone is in our blog pictures this week because we have been so busy preparing for our Nativity but we don’t want to share pictures of it yet! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday for our show!

Friday 1st December!

With so many bugs going around we decided to learn how to wash our hands properly!

We used glitter to act as the germs and then we needed to use soap and water to get rid of them properly!

For St Andrew’s Day we were doing some Scottish Highland Dancing in the gym hall before we went back to class and wrote stories about our own Highland cows.

In the gym hall we listened to different types of music and moved around with how it made it  feel. We got very tired!

Friday 24th November – Road Safety Week

We love sharing all the things we are working on outside of school.

This week was Road Safety Week.

We went to the cycle track to look at all the road signs.

We pretended we were cars and we had to follow the signs instructions.

At the crossing we worked on crossing safely.

Have a fabulous weekend!
