EWHCF Class of 2024

P3A Week of 6th January 2020

It has been a very busy week to start of the New Year. We all appeared very happy to be back and enjoyed seeing everyone we had missed over the Christmas holidays. We have shared lots of lovely stories about what we did with our families and friends over the break!

In maths this week, the Squares have been using Microsoft Excel to explore and create different charts including bar graphs and pie charts. The Triangles worked on addition and subtraction word problems and the Circles and Rectangles have been rounding to the nearest ten.

In literacy, we have been developing our comprehension skills and read a piece of text about Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin. This is related to our science topic, the Sun, Moon and Stars. We answered literal and inferential questions about the text focusing on answering in full sentences. We will continue working on non-fiction texts over the next few weeks.

We wrote our own monster menus with lots of disgusting adjectives. We each included starters, mains and desserts and some of us wrote a radio advert for our monster restaurant. The gruesome adjectives we came up with were amazing! We loved writing our menus and some of us have even turned our home corner into a monster cafe.

Before the Christmas break we learned about the phases of the moon. This week we created our own flip book. We drew each phase and then labelled each one underneath the flip. Next week we will begin to learn about the sun.

Instead of making a New Year resolutions, we discussed our dreams and ambitions. We all made a dream jar and wrote our dreams or ambitions also giving thought about the different steps we will need to make to achieve them.

In PE, we continued with Athletics, focusing on running and sprinting by playing lots of competitive games where we had to be quick off the mark.

We have had an exciting delivery of new construction materials which will gradually be introduced into both Primary 3 classes over the next few weeks. It is still one of our favourite things to do! One of the children created an electricity supply box which even included wires for the electricity to pass through!
