EWHCF Class of 2024

P3A Week of 13th and 20th January

It has been an exciting and busy couple of weeks in P3A.

In maths, the Squares have been learning different ways to write multiplication and division calculations whilst the Triangles have also started looking at multiplication and different strategies which they can use to help solve calculations. The Circles and Rectangles are looking at subtraction and have discussed partitioning as a strategy to help complete calculations mentally.

In literacy, we have enjoyed reading a variety of texts including fiction and non-fiction and continue developing our comprehension skills through answering literal and inferential questions. We have also worked on highlighting keywords in a passage which helps us use the text better to find the answer to the question.

We love the range of activities we complete each week during spelling. The active spelling activities help us to retain our spelling words and we also work on a different phoneme each week.

During our writing lesson on Friday (17th) we received a visit from Buddy the Tortoise. Buddy belongs to Zunairah in P3b. We were very excited to meet Buddy as you can see from our faces!

We continued to develop our skills in Athletics and have focused on throwing for distance and throwing for accuracy. We used a range of balls/objects and threw them to see which would go the furthest. This prompted a discussion about weight and shape and how this can affect the distance each ball/object travelled. Next week, we will be developing our jumping skills. Ask us about our new favourite warm-up of Rock, Paper, Scissors (with hoops)!

We continue to be creative in P3A and every week we surprise Mrs Agnew with our ideas and creations!
