Listening and Talking

Erin- We had to work in a group to have mini debates and vote for the right we thought was most important.

Connor- It was fun.

Susannah- Our group managed to come to a conclusion easily, we all agreeded with each other.

Gordon-

Kristin- This helped us with our listening skills. We had to make eye contact and not interupt each other.

Sophie- We also had to use talking skills like giving examples and explaining our choices and giving everybody a chance to speak.

Health Eating

After a recent survey in the school we found out that some children didn’t think the school helped them to make healty choices. We decided to make games, powerpoints and competitions to encourgae others to make healthier choices.

Ellie, Nivi and Darcie created a competition and gave everybody a chart to record the amount of fruit and veg we ate every day.

Caleb and Jamie designed a PowerPoint to teach us about the choices we could and should be making.

Emma, Adam, Ewan and Sophie also made some healthy eating games on the SCRATCH computer programming site. We were very impressed and we are all going to try our best to make healthier choices.

Active Numeracy Games

We love trying out some of our old favourite games with a mathamatical twist. In these pictures Jack and Ben decided we could play tig but this time if you get caught you have to chant the stations of your tables. The first time you are caught you say the 6 times table, the second time the 7 times table, the third time the 8 times table and so on.

Then Susannah suggested we played an odd and even game. We faced our partners in a line. One side was odd and one side was even. Mrs McLean called out a calculation and we had to work out the answer. If the answer was odd then they ran away and the even side tried to catch them and vice versa. We had great fun. Next time we are going to try Math Splat.

Day 1 with the rocket seeds.

It was time to begin our mission for the UK Space Agency. Over the next 35 days we are going to become space biologists in order to weigh up whether it is possible to grow our own food on other planets, millions of miles away from Earth. We have been given 200 seeds to plant and observe. 100 of them have been to space with astronaut Tim Peake and 100 of them have remained here on Earth. In order to keep the experiment fair we do not know which is which, they are being referred to as blue seeds and red seeds. Here are some pictures that capture the beginning of our journey.

Our special delivery.

Yesterday we had a delivery all the way from space (Well kind of!)

In September 2015 British Astronaut Tim Peake took 2kg of rocket seeds to the International Space Station (ISS). After several months on board they have now be packaged up and sent to schools across the UK for Science experiments. We were lucky enough to receive 200 seeds that we will sow and observe over the next 35 days. We are so excited to be Space Biologists.
