Remote Learning – Week 2

#Team2B – thank you so much for your efforts last week in supporting our new way of learning.

I will continue to post information on this blog every Monday and add any updates throughout the week if required.

All learning tasks will be posted directly to the Class Team via your child’s group channels daily.

I believe everyone in the class is now set and up and running. If you still require support with this then please see the email that was sent to you last week by School Mail.

Your kind comments and photos have made me smile everyday.

Please understand that it is not the expectation for you to post photos everyday but if you are able to upload something when you can it would be great to see completed tasks from everyone.

I am missing interacting  with you all at school but hopefully we can continue to keep in touch through our class Team.

Happy Monday!

Miss M x

Update – 9:45am

Hi all – I have posted tasks today straight onto the channel dashboard on MS Teams.

There are NO documents to load and view or files to access. Hopefully this makes it easier for you all.

I thank you for your support during this time.

Miss M 🙂

Update 10:20am

Tip – I am accessing MS Teams through the desktop app on my laptop directly.  I am not logging in via GLOW on my internet browser. If you have MS Office 365 on your home device it might be worth a try to see if you are able to access tasks directly from that. I have experienced no freezing or lagging using this method of access.

Good morning #Team2B! I am aware that some of you were having issues accessing the ‘Files’ tab on your group channels. This seems to be an issue during peak times 9-3pm as the app is being accessed by lots of users at once.

I am working to find a solution to us getting up and running properly so from today I will upload the work programme documents onto the main dashboard of your group channel for Literacy and Numeracy. Hopefully this will be easier to access, view, download, save to your device.

Look out for other posts of learning ideas from Mr Gordon or Mrs Ali too!

Please continue to check both this blog and the main dashboard of the MS Teams page everyday for updates.

In between working at home I will also be working in our Local Hub at OLM so I will try to respond to posts when I can.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

STEM Homework Challenge

A reminder of the photo challenge from the STEM Committee due this coming Thursday.

You should take a selfie doing something related to Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths. Please print the picture and write your NAME, HOUSE and CLASS on the back.

We will then create a display board of all the selfies.  The STEM Committee will judge and select overall first, second and third place winners.  They will receive points for their house.  Family pictures are more than welcome but please ensure each child has a copy of their picture to submit.

Please bring pictures to school by Thursday 19th March.

The idea for this challenge was created by the STEM Committee and it is to encourage pupils to engage in STEM activities outside of school.

Food Bank Collection

Please see a note below from the Pupil Council, Mrs Stirling and Mrs Phee.

The Pupil Council Committee have organised to collect non-food items for our local food bank. We are hoping you can raid your cupboards and donate some essential  items for those in crisis.

If you have any of the following  items we would be very grateful:

  • Household items – laundry liquid detergent, laundry powder, washing up liquid
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Baby supplies – nappies, baby wipes and non-perishable baby food.
  • Toiletries – deodorant, toilet paper, shower gel, shaving gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand wipes.

Some information of our plans have previously been shared, therefore we have already received some donations.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to this worthwhile cause.

Collection date: by Friday 27th March to Mrs Stirling’s room.

Parental Engagement

The workshops in the poster above will be run in partnership with Julie Douglas, our Family First link worker. These will take place in school on the above dates/times.

We kindly extend a personal invitation to all our families. Julie can offer guidance on many aspects of parenting and family life.

Parent Pay

Please note  that Parent Pay is now live for you to pay the balance of our trip to Eastwood Theatre. There were some technical difficulties over the weekend which have now been rectified.

Beat the Street 2020

Today your child has been sent home with information about the above.

Beat the Street is a physical activity challenge across ERC which begins on Wednesday 19th February.

Local schools, workplaces and community groups are competing to see who can walk, run, scoot or cycle the furthest before the Wednesday 1st April.

We have been allocated ‘fobs’ for staff, families and pupils to collect points to our school account.

Pupil fobs are green and have already been pre-registered to the school’s account and activated by the Beat the Street team.

Family fobs in the form of credit card style need to be registered  online  with the card number if you wish to take part at home.

There will be ‘Beat Boxes’ on lamp posts around the community (e.g. bottom of the lane) for us to tap the fob and collect points. More information can be found on the maps sent home.

Please note that it is not enough to scan a random box – you will need to go between them to gain points for us!

I’m sure this challenge will provide many hours of family fun!

Good luck!
