All Different, All Equal

The Rights Respecting Committee and Peer Mediators are helping us to focus on Article 2 of the UNCRC.

Article 2

All children have these rights, no matter who they are, where they live, what their parents do, what language they speak, what their religion is, whether they are a boy or girl, what their culture is, whether they have a disability, whether they are rich or poor. No child should be treated unfairly on any basis.

We are thinking about this during Anti-Bullying week (13th-17th November). This year the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s message is ‘All different, all equal’. We have discussed what this means and what it looks and sounds like in class and in the playground and are contributing to a whole school dispaly which will celebrate our wonderful diversity and similarities.

Working with other adults 👮👩‍🍳

As well as learning from our teachers and each other we have recently had some visitors to help us.

PC Trainer, the Campus Cop, came in to talk to us and P2. We found out about different aspects of his job and we also discussed ‘Stranger Danger’ with him.

Karen, our friendly catering manager, and her team invited us to the hall to learn about making food that is fun and healthy. We loved preparing different funny and yummy foods!

YESTERDAY WHEN WE DID COOKING I MADE KEBABS AND A WRAP. I LOVED IT!

YESTERDAY WHEN WE COOKED WITH KAREN I LIKED DOING THE WRAPS. I HAD CUCUMBER EYES, A HAM MOUTH, CHEESE HAIR AND A TUNA NOSE AND BOW. AFTER THAT I MADE A KEBAB WITH APPLE AND BANANA ON IT. I LIKED IT.

YESTERDAY WE MADE A WRAP FACE WITH VEGETABLES AND FRUIT ANIMALS. THEY WERE DELICIOUS!

Weekly homework and news – w.b. 30.10.17

As shared last week, homework and other information will now be posted on our class blog. It will also be displayed on our class noticeboard (window).

Other than the medium, you should find no major changes to the format but do get in touch with any queries you may have. Please continue to use your child’s diary as a means to communicate with me.

RME – Term 1 🐘🕉

We learned about a story from Hinduism and some beliefs Hindus have that are linked to the story’s main character – Ganesh or Ganesha.

You can watch a version of the story here to find out more and ask us about it.

Since Parvati made Ganesh from clay we also made our own models of him.

More magnetism

We have enjoyed further exploring the properties of magnets and are about to round off our learning in this area by making the games we designed and sharing them with P1.

We know that opposite poles ATTRACT and similar poles REPEL.

How to build a house for a… 🏕🏚🏡

…gruffalo!

We all joined in to tell the story of the Gruffalo and quickly realised that the other animals’ homes were described but not his! In pairs we planned then built gruffalo homes. We got to visit and give feedback to our friends.

The next day we used the notes we had made to refresh our memories on the materials we had used and what we had done. We turned these into a set of instructions during our writing lesson.

I LIKED WORKING WITH A FRIEND

IT WAS HARD TO FIND THE RIGHT PLACE FOR A HOME

WE TRIED TO USE LOTS OF DIFFERENT MATERIALS

OUR HOME IS WATERPROOF

THE DOING WORDS ARE THE VERBS

THE MATERIALS GO UNDER THE OTHER HEADING

IT WAS FUN

WE COULD SHARE OUR INSTRUCTIONS WITH YOUNGER CHILDREN
