Handwriting

We have been learning to use linked script to improve our handwriting skills. We have been learning how to join letters together without taking our pencil off of the page. Many of us enjoy handwriting and  are beginning to use these lovely joins in our day to day class work.

Making an Ancient Map

We have been learning to create an ancient map showing the location of Scotland and Egypt. We made our map look ancient by crunching it up, tearing the edges and staining it with teabags. We needed to watch and listen carefully while our teacher demonstrated this technique. We could use this technique in the future to make other documents look ancient.

King Tut – Big Art

We worked together to create a giant image of King Tut. We made the outline by tracing around a picture on the  interactive white board. We then worked in groups to paint the image using gold and blue paint. We all loved taking part in this activity because it was fun. We would like to use this approach for different art projects in the future.

Bounce Back

As part of their Health and Wellbeing learning, the children have been thinking about resilience and helpful thought processes when things go wrong. Bounce Back is an acrostic to help us all remember these strategies.

During their Golden Time, the children who chose ICT created a Bounce Back movie. They animated bouncing balls and filmed each other saying the strategies. The film is below (with a special effect to keep our children’s images private).

Pr. 3 Assembly

Pr. 3 took part in an assembly about Numeracy and Maths. We spoke about the different ways in which we used our maths skills. Through our Social Studies topic on the Rainforest we measured the length of a typical rainforest tree, we made symmetrical butterflies and we located rainforest animals in the playground using map grid references.  We were GGGRRREAT and the assembly was enjoyed by all.
