In maths the triangles and circles have been learning about compass points and angles. We have been creating and following routes using appropriate vocabulary. We used these skills to help us programme robots and design a programme for them to follow. We programmed the Robots to change colour, and direction and speed and make different noises.
Grace – It was fun to design a programme and work with a partner.
Connor P- the robots were small but we could make them do really cool things.
Taylor – it was extraordinary to make the robot work through an Ipad. I really enjoyed it.
In numeracy the triangles learned how to create a survey. We carried out the survey , then using Microsoft Excel we created a spread sheet showing the data . We then used the chart wizard to create a bar chart showing our information.
P5b Favourite pop stars
Tyler – I found it interesting that adults use spread sheets and bar charts in their jobs.
Callum – It was good to know how this can be used in real life.
During maths week we had a visit from a lady who worked in TESCO in Barrhead who told us about all the ways she used maths in her job. We were surprised at how often she had to use her maths skills.
Alisha – she used maths to take inventory of stock of each product.
Riley – she used addition and subtraction to count out the correct change to give to customers.
Pr 4/3 collected information on our favourite rainforest animal using tally marks. We then displayed this information by creating a bar graph. What was our favourite rainforest animal ?
