Expressive Arts – paper weaving

As part of our learning in Social studies we did some research into tartan as it is a Scottish tradition. We learned how tartan is made today using complex weaving equipment and we investigated how tartan was made in olden days using a hand loom. We researched our family tartan and designed our own tartan by weaving with paper.

We then created our own interactive tartan design by mixing 6 colours. We experimented until we found a design we liked. We copied our design onto a Word document using Paint so that we could print out our own design.

Callum – I liked seeing all the different patterns that people had designed.

Alisha  – The paper weaving was a bit tricky but it was also fun too.
