Read Aloud Launch

Read Aloud is a month of events to increase awareness of Reading Recovery and allow all those children who have been participating an opportunity to celebrate their achievements in literacy and become role models for others.

To celebrate the launch of Read Aloud, St. Mark’s pupils attended  a very special event at the Barrhead Foundry Library today with important guests and lots of children from across East Renfrewshire schools.

The children’s challenge this week is to read at least 20 book as ….

READING IS MY SUPERPOWER!

This was kicked off by the children reading their favourite books to each other!

Next week we will  attend the Barrhead Foundry Library again on Wednesday 20th of February, 9.30am to read to David Currie from the BBC.

On Thursday 21st of February, we will read to the children of Arthurlie Family Centre at 10am

And to close our week, we would like to invite any parents/carers into our family room on Friday 22nd February at 2.45pm for tea, biscuit and a good read!

Swap Shop

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone who has donated clothes to our Swap Shop. We have built up quite a collection and will be launching at Parent’s Evening on Thursday 8th March. Please stop by our stall and pick up any pieces of uniform that you need at excellent prices. If you have any donations we will also be collecting that evening and will do a straight exchange for new uniform. We are especially keen to build up a bank of PE Kits.

Primary 4 have their First Holy Communion in May and we are appealing to Parents with older pupils to consider donating your Communion dresses, kilts, suits, shoes or accessories. We would also be delighted to accept any donations from the current primary 4 children after their First Holy Communion has taken place to store for nest session.

Thank you for all of your support,

The Swap Shop Committee
