Your child has the opportunity at attend a new Karate Club at Eastwood High School along with pupils from a number of other East Renfrewshire primary schools.
Full details of the club are as follows:
Where: Eastwood High School – sports hall
When: Wednesdays 4.00pm – 5.00pm
Dates: 20th Sept, 27th Sept, 4th Oct, 11th Oct, 25th Oct, 1st Nov, 8th Nov, 15th Nov, 22nd Nov, 29th Nov, 6th Dec, 13th Dec (12 weeks – although it is hoped the club will run each term)
Cost: £4 per lesson (made payable to the coach at the start of each session)
Bring: Appropriate sports clothing & filled water bottle
This programme is a partnership between East Renfrewshire Active Schools and Japan Karate Academy, and is aimed at introducing children to this new Olympic sport.
The intention is for the club to be a permanent fixture in the coming years and will be taught by one of Scotland`s top instructors Mr Terry Connell 7th Dan, a Scottish Karate Governing Body [SKGB] qualified national coach.
Terry`s has studied in Japan and many of his students are members of the Scottish junior and senior national squads, indeed one is a former pupil of Eastwood High.
Please note that no transport will be provided to Eastwood High School; therefore you must make appropriate arrangements for your child to be dropped off and collected from the venue.
Clothing is loose and casual, but skirts are not permitted. We have karate suits available [£28] but they are not compulsory, although they are required for examinations should you wish to participate in the association belt grading system where students can progress for Elementary level [White belt] to Advanced [Black belt]
