Meet the Teacher Evening Wednesday 4th September 2013 6pm-7pm & Non Uniform Day Friday 6th September

Your child is welcome to accompany you tonight. This would be a good opportunity for you to meet the class teacher and for your child to show you round their class where resources can be viewed.

Non-Uniform Day                 Friday                         6th September 2013

Sister Lucy Kurien from the Maher Project in India will visit some senior classes next Monday. We would like to support the good work she does with the disadvantaged by holding a Non Uniform Day on Friday. For our new P1 parents this means that children wear their own clothes to school (no football colours). This will also add to the celebration of our school Feast Day.

A small donation would be appreciated to support this worthwhile cause.

Primary 7c

Primary 7c participated in Safety in the Park. They really enjoyed the active lessons in fire and road safety. They learned about the dangers of drugs and alchol along with many other important lessons.

Primary 2d

In Primary Two we have been learning to add up to twenty. We worked in small groups and used our cubes to explore the story of 11 and 12.

During our PE lessons we have been improving our fitness. We have been working at different stations with different activities to help us do this. We have been bouncing and catching the basketball, doing star jumps, jumping over obstacles and running.

Do you think we look like good atheletes?

Primary 4a Developing Team Skills

Primary 4a have been working on developing team working skills. Here are some pictures of us working together to see which team could build a straw line from one end of the hall to the other in the shortest time.

We worked out that it would be best to work individually first and then combine our lines at the end.

It was very close and we are hoping to have a rematch soon!

Settling into Primary 1b

Primary 1b have settled very well into school.

We have had lots of fun paining and printing patterns.

We love learning about numbers!

We play lots of fun games!

Just ask and we will tell you what games we are playing in school!

Primary 4c

Primary 4c enjoyed making some delicious Viking porridge. They certainly didn’t fight like Vikings but instead worked well as a team and made their porridge a little sweeter than a scary viking by adding some raisins, honey and jam.

Primary 5d

Reciprocal Reading

Primary 5d have been enjoying using reciprocal reading to enhance their understanding of text. It has also helped us to listen and work with others.

There are 5 jobs: The Big Boss makes sure everyone knows what they are doing and chooses their roles. The Clarifier helps us clarify tricky words. The Questioner thinks of interesting questions about the text. The Predictor predicts what will happen in the story. The Summariser tells the story in their own words. I love it! Ellie S

‘Reciprocal reading is a great way to get people involved in reading altogether because they all get a job ‘ Mary – Rose C

‘ We all work as a team and if you get a word wrong, someone will help you.’ Poppy Br

‘It helps me keep track with reading and I can understand the story better’ Marc C

Numeracy & Mathematic

Our numeracy focus this term is multiplication. We are learning to recall all multiplication facts from 1 – 10 and love to play the Fingers game to help with this.

“It is really fun to play and it makes you think of multiplication tables more!” Jessica M

“I want to play this game every single day!” Niall Mc
