We all gathered in the Mod and the children from the Family Centre joined us to take part in the challenge. Everone took part with great enthusiasm and some fantastic signing and singing, so well done everyone.
Pupils and staff wore a scarf and donated £1 which will be sent to SignHealth foundation to help transform the lives of deaf children and adults.

Today we welcomed two very special visitors to school to help us learn more from the Holocaust Memorial Day.
We were delighted when Carol Gillespie from Education Scotland told us that Arn Chorn Pond, a Cambodian genocide survivor, flautist and human rights activist and Dr Racelle Weiman, a Holocaust educator from USA, would be visiting the school to give first-hand accounts of what it is like to experience such atrocities and pupils then had the opportunity to ask questions to help them understand the impact of these significant historical events.
Our visitors toured the school and then were treated to a performance from Reels on Wheels and 2 wonderful songs from our senior choir. Thanks to Dylan and Gemma for their solo performances. We were then delighted to listen to Arn as he played a Cambodian lullaby for us on his flute.
This was followed by a question and answer session in class Orkney. We were so proud of our young people as they listened to the stories from Arn and Rachelle and asked lots of relevant questions.
This afternoon classes Orkney and Shetland participated in the GLOW TV event as Arn discussed more about his life in Cambodia and what he had to do to survive.
Look out for mAIRwaves FM next week as we will share some of our question and answer session with you.
Have a look at some of the photos from the event and read the lovely comments left in our visitors book from Arn and Racelle.
Thank You to Michael McCuaig and RBS Commercial for the delivery of selection boxes for all the pupils.

Class Iona presented at this weeks assembly. They have been organising the “ShoeBox” Appeal. A slideshow of photographs was shown to the primary department to highlight the work they have undertaken. One of the highlights of the assembly was Leah singing our school song, a great achievement for her.
They appealed for all the pupils to contribute items to support the shoebox appeal, i.e toothpaste, soap, brushes, pens etc. They were overwhelmed with donations and with the help from the parents of Class Iona we were able to make up and send 65 boxes to the appeal.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, with your contributions we also raised £100 to contribute towards the postage of the Christmas boxes.
Have a look at some of our photographs below showing class Iona collecting, packing and delivering the shoeboxes to Blythswood Care who will in turn post them off to deserving children and adults.
