Mary’s Meals

Classes Tiree and Arran have been learning about the work of Mary’s Meals, a Scottish Charity set up to help feed and educate children all over the world.

They shared this information with rest of school during one of our assemblies and set up a challenge to encourage pupils to  donate some bags filled with accessories like toothbrush, brush, pencils, paper etc which would be used to help others less fortunate.

The classes managed to donate 30 bags  plus extra supplies and raised £38.00.

Thank you for all your help and well done classes Tiree and Arran.

Wear What You Please Day

Wear What You Please Day

Thank you to everyone who contibuted to our Wear What You Please Day.

This was a special event organised to support one of our pupils who is a Special Olympian.

Amy from class Whalsay is a very keen Rhythmic Gymnast and is part of the West of Scotland Team taking part in the Special Olympics event in Bath.

Special Olympians have to raise their own funds to help support transport and accomodation.

It was decided to host a Wear What You Please Day and everyone paid a pound which Amy collected.

The final total has still to be confirmed but it looks like we have raised almost £200 so well done everyone.

Communities together: Build a Bridge

Last night a special event took place at Glasgow City Chambers. Several schools from local authorities represented their schools at the Holocaust Memorial Day in the presence of Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Our Reels on Wheels, Scottish Country Dance group were invited to perfrom at this special event.

So late last night a group of pupils and staff from classes Arran, Cumbrae and Sanda  performed two dances, the Circassian Circle and Flowers of Edinburgh and they all rose to the occasion absorbing the atmosmphere and enjoying the performances.

This was a great achievement for our pupils and they all made us so proud.

Well done everyone.

Christmas Service 2012

Thank you to everyone who came to support our Christmas Service today, “The Magical Christmas Jigsaw”.

I’m sure you will agree that the pupils were amazing and all so confident with their parts.

After all the rehearsals with Mr Hay and class teachers, everything went well on the day. Pupils were even practising their lines at home as they wanted to make sure it was perfect.

Have a look at some of the photographs below.

Thank You to Williamwood High School

A big thank you to Miss Dickson and the 6th year pupils from Williamwood High School who have been  fundraising all year and organised a Christmas party for all the pupils.

Everyone had great fun……. a few dances before our party treats and then back to the party games.

We even had some social dancing and pass the parcel with Miss Dickson’s help.

Santa made a surprise visit and all the pupils were delighted with the gifts.

Once a again a big THANK YOU to everyone at Williamwood High for a fantastic christmas party.

“Something Special” at Isobel Mair School

Parents, staff and pupils from the school and Family Centre all came together this morning to watch the premiere of the “Something Special” series which some of the pupils took part in.

The title of the series was “Ceilidh” and the pupils took part in scottish country dancing and making shortbread with Justin. Freya and Anna also used Makaton to sign and speak with Mr Tumble.

The children loved seeing themselves and we are all so proud of them.
