Jeans for Genes Day

Jeans for Genes Day

Today we are taking part in the Jeans for Genes Day to help raise money for more research into genetic disorders.

All the staff and pupils are allowed to wear jeans to school as long as they make a minimum donation of £1 towards a very worthwhile cause.

Here are some of our primary pupils who are taking part in the fundraising event.

Delighted to say we raised £129.28 to help support Jeans for Genes Day.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

The pupils and staff in Loch Ness Wing classes  – Arran, Cumbrae and Sanda – held a Coffee Morning in aid of the MacMillan Nurses on Friday 28th September.

Parents and families were invited  along to have coffee and delicious home made cake, followed by active participation in class activities.

Some of the parents were treated to a lovely session with our music therapist Brian Smith, while others participated in sensory stories.

Thanks to the generosity of the families we raised the magnificent sum of £300 for the McMillan Nurses Appeal.

Harvest Service

This morning we celebrated our Harvest Service at Newton Mearns Baptist Church.

It was a very busy event with all the children from school and the Family Centre attending.

We listened to a Harvest story from Reverend Gardner and joined in with all the singing, however we have to say that our favourite song was Conkers.

Our senior choir also performed two songs which were well recieved by the audience.

This year our Harvest contribtions will be taken to Glasgow City Mission. They specifically asked for items such as coffee, ketchup, tea bags and jam, so many thanks to everyone who sent in these and other items. I’m sure they will be very welcome when they are dropped off later this week at the mission.

Parents’ Evening

A reminder that Parents’ Evening will take place this evening in main school and at Yell in WWHs for our post 16 pupils.

Appointments will already have been made with the class teachers.

Our Speech and Language Therapists will be available for any advice.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Green Fingered Parents

Many thanks to our “Green Fingered Parents” who helped out with the maintenance of the Sensory Garden on Friday.

It’s looking fabulous and has been admired by all the pupils, staff and visitors.

Great job everyone!

Variety Club Outing

3 of our primary classes have set out on a journey to Blairdrummond Safari Park.

This is part of the annual Variety Club outing which we are invited to and usually everyone has a great time.

Hopefully the rain will stay away and we don’t see any lions on the loose!

Coffee and Chat

Come along on Thurdsay 6th September at 10am for our monthly coffee and chat.

A chance to meet up with other parents and an opportunity to discuss and provide support in dealing with specific issues.

All welcome
