Mary’s Meals

Classes Tiree and Arran have been learning about the work of Mary’s Meals, a Scottish Charity set up to help feed and educate children all over the world.

They shared this information with rest of school during one of our assemblies and set up a challenge to encourage pupils to  donate some bags filled with accessories like toothbrush, brush, pencils, paper etc which would be used to help others less fortunate.

The classes managed to donate 30 bags  plus extra supplies and raised £38.00.

Thank you for all your help and well done classes Tiree and Arran.

Suggestions and Ideas for Parents

Looking for ideas?

Are you always looking for ideas for places to go with your young person at weekends and during the holidays?

We have created a page for Parents and Carers with links to ideas and suggestions for our young people.

If you have any suggestions of places to go, parks or clubs that you attend, could you possibly let us know so that we can populate the page and share with other families who might be struggling with ideas.

This information can be given via the school diary or contact the school office.

Thank You

The student council have made a request for staff willing to take a pie in the face – all for the sake of charity!

Nail Bar
Spoil your fingers! Get pampered and get your nails painted by the very experienced Cassie and Chloe  from S5. A plain colour will cost £1 and a funky design will cost £1.50.

Leg Waxing
Some of our hairier members of staff ( Mr McLaughlin and Mr Holmes) have agreed to a sponsored leg wax!
Not only will we get to see them squirm, other staff members will be able to pull a strip off……………… for a small donation of course!

Chocolate Fountain and Cakes
There will be a chocolate fountain with a variety of things to cover in chocolate, as well as yummy home made fairy cakes.

World Book Day

Thank You to everyone involved who helped make our World Book Day a huge success.

Every class embraced this celebration with a host of activities taking place throughout the day.

We had an outdoor activity, “Going on a Bear Hunt”, Storyteller, Puppet show from Class Orkney, Treasure Island Sensory experience form Class Arran, a visit to the Library and pupils interviewing other pupils about their favourite books amongst others………. a very busy day indeed!

Our day was complete with many of the staff and pupils dressing up as their favourite characters to raise money for book aid international.
Some of the costumes were very innovative……… we had Granny Island from Katy Morag, Ladybirds from “The Ladybird who heard and saw”, butterfly, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and Cinderella amongst others.

For every £2 Isobel Mair school raises, Book Aid International can send one more book to Africa

Everyone had a fun and educational World Book Day.

Wear What You Please Day

Wear What You Please Day

Thank you to everyone who contibuted to our Wear What You Please Day.

This was a special event organised to support one of our pupils who is a Special Olympian.

Amy from class Whalsay is a very keen Rhythmic Gymnast and is part of the West of Scotland Team taking part in the Special Olympics event in Bath.

Special Olympians have to raise their own funds to help support transport and accomodation.

It was decided to host a Wear What You Please Day and everyone paid a pound which Amy collected.

The final total has still to be confirmed but it looks like we have raised almost £200 so well done everyone.
