We started a new science topic, it’s all about Space. We created a slide on Google Classroom to tell Mrs Lamont all of the things we wanted to learn about space and we asked lots of questions. We have learned about our solar system and black holes so far, it’s really interesting! Scientists have found a black hole that is 1600 lightyears away from us. Black holes don’t have surfaces like planets. We blew up a balloon and wrapped tinfoil round it to represent a star, we then popped it with a safety pin to show a star exploding. The tin foil was then crumpled up to show a black hole forming and consuming space. We also used a cardigan, a hockey ball and marbles to show the gravitational pull that a black hole can have. The edge of a black hole is called the event horizon and anything that goes past that point will be sucked into the black hole and will not be able to escape.

On Wednesday we were doing gymnastics in PE. We moved round six different stations: handstands, wall squats, hula hooping, using a spring board and vault, steps and balances, balances and forward rolls. It was really fun, everyone enjoyed using the springboard.

In writing we finished our leaflets and added in pictures and different fonts to make them eye-catching. We enjoyed being able to share information this way.

Pythagoras have been working on calculating the probability of different events happening.

Turing have been learning about equivalent fractions and have started to simplify fractions as well. It is becoming easier for us.

In Art, we have been focussing on patterns this week. It’s been very interesting to try and create different patterns using line. Some of the patterns were quite tricky as they were becoming more complicated.

P1b did a lovely assembly sharing what they have learned about toys, we enjoyed listening to them sing.
