Classes enjoy a range of school trips and excursions around our local area as well as residential experiences. A day, half day or week out of the classroom can have health and educational benefits for our children and young people.
Risk assessments are completed prior to an educational visit. The purpose of the risk assessment is to highlight any hazards and control measures associated with general locations or activities. We work in conjunction with venues and establishments using their risk assessments to compliment ours.
The SEN and Disability Act 2001 extended the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) to cover education. Schools are required to ensure pupils with disabilities or special educational needs are not treated less favourably both in the classroom, and during extra curricular activities, including school trips. Ensuring reasonable access on school trips for pupils with disabilities is part of a school’s planning strategy.
The ratio of adults to children is a very important consideration for school visits. The ratio varies with the age of the children attending and with the activity being undertaken. Please see below details of our insurance cover for educational visits.
