Feeding the garden birds throughout winter. Here is a recipe to feed your garden birds. Please be aware of any allergies your child may have.
different uses for a stick, my favourite is the journey stick. Wrap your favourite stick in masking/sellotape with the sticky side outwards and stick leaves, feathers etc you find on your journey and then can you remember where you found them and talk about them when you get home. This activity promotes early literacy and storytelling skills also strengthens recall and memory skills.
Who doesn’t love a puddle? There is immense learning through this play. How deep? How Wide? How high can you splash the water? How many jumps until the puddle moves? and so on, take a look at the above activity notes and see how many you and your child can do.
A look at science and incorporating recycling and reducing waste – how to grow vegetables from vegetable scraps. remember to take stage by stage pics and please upload to twitter so we can look at your wonderful experiments.
Can YOU make a jigsaw?
Get yourself an empty cereal box/biscuit box/magazine page etc.
Cut into strips/wiggles/triangles,any shape that takes your fancy and then the challenge is to put back together again.
We love homemade jigsaws, not only do they help your child with problem solving skills, but your child will recognise familiar logos and images. we call this environmental print. When children are able to look at and name it, this is actually one of the earliest forms of reading.

This is a firm favourite and a simple way to build muscle strength in little fingers, manual dexterity and problem solving.
Younger children will enjoy pulling the pipe cleaners through the colander, whilst older children can try to thread them through. You can always add some beads to the pipe cleaners while threading as an extra challenge.
No pipe cleaners? No problem, you can use wild flowers, string/wool or dry spaghetti.
No colander? Again easy solved. Using a pencil, carefully push holes into a box.

Continuing with strengthening fine motor control and manual dexterity as well as improving scissor skills, this is a fun and easy activity children of all ages enjoy.
Toilet tube hair cuts. Ask your child to create a face on their toilet tube, for younger children, you could snip down the tube to create strips for them to give it a haircut.
To challenge more able children. ask them to snip down the length of the tube and then cut across to give the toilet tube character a trendy hairstyle.
