Sending your child to nursery

All children who are three and four years old are entitled to a 1140 free hours of nursery  in a local authority establishment. A place is either 5 days 9-3 or  8 -6 over 3 days.

Due to the covid pandemic, parents are not permitted into the nursery and according to government guidelines. A member of staff, will encourage your child to come into the playroom, show them where to hang their jacket etc and show them around the playroom, introducing them to the other children and the resources.

On the first day your child will attend for an hour and depending on how well they have settled, your child’s keyworker will let you know how long they can stay for their next session.

When staying for lunch please provide a healthy choice (see lunch policy) in a lunch box including an ice pack. Your child will also need to come with a bag containing a FULL change of clothes, wellington boots and waterproof clothing for outdoor play, which your child can access everyday, no matter the weather. It’s very helpful if all clothing is named.

You are encouraged to register your child for a place in a local authority establishment when they reach their 2nd birthday.
