Over the past 8 weeks, we have been designing and building our own electric model cars The children were given the brief of designing a working electric car model using the resources available in the school.
We have developed our skills using tools such as saws and hot glue guns, as well as learning about electric circuitry and mechanics
We have really enjoyed this challenge and we have learned “problem solving skills” as there were some problems to overcome to get the cars running.
In our Literacy lessons this week we have been learning about poetry, in particular rhyming poetry. We have learned a great tip from The Poetry Society that poets used to write rhyming poetry: word backwards. To avoid what they call a “clunky last line”, poets write the final lines first.
We have used this technique to write our own poems in groups entitled “Teacher, teacher!”, which describes some of the reasons why children might not be in class.

To develop this further, we used this idea to individually write Christmas themed poems called “Santa, Santa!” This time, Santa is looking for various people who are all taking part in Christmas activities.

Thank you to all of the family and friends that supported our Christmas Fayre on Saturday. P623 were busy last week researching, designing and manufacturing our wood slice Christmas tree ornaments and thanks to you, we were able to sell over 60.
We will be attending the Newton Mearns Baptist Church tomorrow to take part in their annual ADVENTure.
We will be leaving school at approximately 9.15am to arrive there for 9.50am. Please ensure that the children are dressed appropriately as the weather is forecast to be inclement.
P623 are hosting an Advent assembly this week and we are very excited about welcoming our family and friends.
Children have been sent home with their lines for the assembly and I would very much appreciate if you could practise with them at home.
