Maths homework

As you will already know, this week P623 is trialling doing our Maths homework online using Google Classroom and Forms.  There are many reasons why we have decided to try this out

  1.  This will save a lot of paper and resources.
  2.  This will save time for our office staff who have to photocopy 33 booklets.
  3. Homework can be done anywhere, at anytime, on any device.
  4. Hopefully, children might find this more enjoyable.

Obviously, there will be some teething problems as this is the first time we have attempted this and we appreciate your patience and feedback in these first few weeks.

Anti-bullying week

This week is National Anti-bullying week.  Today, we attended class P726’s assembly on Anti-bullying and followed it up with a class discussion.

We discussed what bullying means and what the difference between bullying and the kind of conflict we sometimes have with school friends in the playground.

Then we thought of strategies we could use if we are being bullied or know of anyone who is being bullied.

Finally, we designed our own Anti-bullying posters to show our understanding of what we’ve learnt.

Active maths

This week we have been using more active ways to learn Maths.  One Maths group have be estimating the length of everyday objects in our classroom as well as the length of our corridor and the perimeter of the pitch.  We then selected the most appropriate tool to measure these object from rulers, metre sticks or even a trundle wheel.

Another Maths group have been creating their own measuring cylinder and using them to check their estimations of volume.
