Today we were having lots of discussion around children’s rights in order to create our Class Charter. We discussed the rights that were relevant to us in school and came up with actions on how we can respect the rights of others and ourselves. We also discussed actions for Mrs Paul to ensure that our rights are being upheld and respected.
Our first Mearns Masters pathway in Primary 7 is The Campaigners! Our campaign is to try and make children and adults more aware of the dangers that smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes can have on our bodies so we can live a healthy life.
We started off by exploring and researching the effects that smoking has on the body. We also looked into the types of first aid we can use if something more fatal happens as a result of smoking i.e. heart attack or stroke.
In groups we showcased our learning through creating our own videos!
Today our whole class went up to the kitchen to create our very own Mexican inspired mocktails.
We used lime cordial, soda water, ice, syrup, orange juice, sugar and salt to make our drinks 🍋
We then blended our mixture together to create a slush like texture and used lime to line our glasses and mixed the top of the glass in sugar and salt to make the garnish 🧂
This morning we took part in our House Olympics. Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin took part in a range of events and worked together to time their teammates and order decimals.
Well done to all pupils who competed in the sprint, distance and relay races as well as the burpees and throw/catch challenges.
Today Group 2 of our Gastronomers made our vegetarian enchiladas in the kitchen. We enjoyed preparing the vegetables, packing up our mixture in tortilla parcels and baking them in the oven with cheese!
Next week our whole class will be making some Mexican themed Mocktails – we can’t wait!
We had a great time at our Sports Day this morning with all members of the class running excellently in the races and having lots of fun in the potted sports.
