Our Week In 6.23

On Tuesday, P6.23 did P.E, Mrs Thompson chose 4 people to host a game. Our instructors were Euan, who hosted wet foot, Harrison and Aiden who hosted dodge ball, and Sam, who hosted port starboard.

On Wednesday we did maths! The cubes did maths about thousandths, and we used Bbc bitesize for some independent study. The spheres learned about tenths and did some work on a whiteboard. The pyramids practised their times tables.

We read Wonder with our partners and worked on identifying true and false statements.

On Thursday, we were listening to some amazing solo talks about famous Scots by our class.

We then did P.E which was in the gym hall and we played a team game which built teamwork, and strength. After P.E we attended P6.21’s fashion show, the fashion show was made by reused clothes. P6.21 named their fashion show “Fashion Passion”. After the fashion show, some girls from P6.21 did a dance.

We went outside and learned a little about algebra and solving equations. It was good fun! We used leaves, stones and sticks to represent the unknown digit.

Today we were even more entertained with more solo talks. For our mental maths, we played a speed game, where we had to use our skill and speed. You would have to try answer the quickest to get a reward, the quickest that didn’t answer the question right wouldn’t get the reward, and the other fastest that did get it right would get the reward. Some really fast people had to close their eyes to make it a bit more fair.

After lunch, we had some values time to play on the pitch.

Thanks from Parisa & Heather, your bloggers!

Happy October Week

Good morning!

It has been a few weeks since our last blog but I was waiting until I had photo permissions before I posted again, as I thought it would be nice to get some faces in here!

A few weeks ago we had our Highland games house challenge which was a huge success. Well done to Donald, Gregor and Christopher who were elected as vice captains for their houses! They did a great job of helping out during the challenge.

In P.E we have been taking on the role of instructors and teaching others our skills. It’s been really fun and we have been able to learn some new skills from our peers.

Last week was maths week and did LOADS of maths. We realised we use maths all of the time in all areas of the curriculum! We investigated Marayam Marzikhani and created posters about her. We also had a pi-off with 6.21 to see who learned pi to the most digits.

Pi Battle:

Check out our maths board that we made! Thanks to Niko for making the lettering for the board.

This week saw the end of our first Mearns Masters pathway ‘The Gastronomers’. We learned to prepare, cook and present Italian starters and main courses. We thought about who the dish looked and served others in our ‘restaurant’. We learned a number of new skills and enjoyed cooking for others and dining in our class restaurant. During this time, we presented our group country projects which were fantastic!

We enjoyed some den building outdoors too! Thee was excellent communication and team work during this!

I hope you all have an amazing October week and stay safe! I look forward to seeing you all back on 19th October.
