March Maddness

When our clay models were dry we got to paint them. The painting was really fun, and everyone enjoyed it! This was a great STEAM activity.

For STEM week we got to go on a google meeting to listen   to some engineers and learned some good facts about them. They gave us lots of advice about becoming an engineer in the future.

We got in groups and one of us at a time would go out and look at a sheet with a human skeleton on it with labels saying which and where the bones are, and we would come back and write them on a whiteboard

.

It was very tense but exciting. The competition helped us to learn the body parts quickly.

We were learning about what alcohol can do to your body and labels the affects on the body. We drew around someone in our group and stuck on some body parts.

We learned about the different classes of drugs as well.

Some of us did some fun maths and we found the area of the shapes.

We had so much fun when making our clay models. We got in little groups and chose a U.S.A landmark and designed them.

We had a lot of fun learning about the good drugs and we got to design our own good drugs and labeled them.

We researched parts of the hand and designed a bionic hand for stem week. It was very hard and challenging but worth it in the end.

We we had fun writing our novel and working in our literacy circle groups.

We did a fun STEM Kahoot!

We learned new maths.

We designed and and wrote about our own planet and alien.

New Year, New Beginnings

On Monday we had a new book called the Ice Monster by David Walliams we read chapters 1-4 , discussed the book, then answered questions to the chapters.   This was one of our read to write tasks from Giglets.

For maths we started learning about measurement and converting between different units, using what we learned from decimals. We had lots of challenges.

On Tuesday we went out for PE and played 3 different games we also did Science.

On Wednesday we were doing measurement and we also were writing play scripts for our film festival and as you see we were finding costumes.

On Thursday we were filming our movies for the film festival and we did a task for measurement and did indoor PE with 6.21. We learned lots of new badminton skills like serving and hand-eye coordination.

Snow Much Fun In 2022

Happy New Year!

We’ve had a great start to the year, learning all about handling data, different types of graphs and surveys. We designed and conducted a survey of our own. Next week we will be using technology to display the results of these.

We have also been busy planning our film festival, creating storyboards, thinking about genre, and considering vocabulary for our scripts. Our homework this week was a film review to help us prepare for this.

Today we had so much snow to have fun in! We spent the morning running about, building things and playing with each other. It was great to get outside.

Thankfully we have a radiator to warm our hats and gloves before we go out again at break and lunch!

A great start back to school!

Happy Holidays

I can’t quite believe we have reached the end of the year! The past few months have flown by and we have had so much fun on our learning journey, in P6.23. Our highlights have been Mearns Masters, presentations and using the technology. We’ve loved trialling 5e integrated day and taking ownership of our learning. Next year we look forward to more of the same and hopefully some nice Spring weather for more outdoor learning!

This week we have enjoyed a pantomime, a festive quiz (well done Icy Intelligence) and our Film Day. The PTA very kindly bought us some popcorn and water to enjoy alongside this. We also were too busy having fun at our party last week to remember to take any photographs but we had a great time!

Thank you all for the support, encouragement that you offer your children, it shines through in their positive attitude and determination which they show every day. I hope you all have a safe and relaxing holiday and enjoy spending time with your loved ones. Thank you all for your kind words and generosity, it is so appreciated and I feel truly lucky to get to work with such a wonderful group of children.

See you back in school on Wednesday 5th January!

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, see you in 2022!
