Estimating distance outside

Today was really chilly and quite damp. Not ideal for outdoor learning, but we enthusiastically worked hard all the same!

We used Sammy snakes to help us see what 1 metre looks like, then used them to measure and lay out metres of different natural materials. This helped us picture in our minds and estimate distances like the width of the pitch. After we had estimated, we used the Sammy snakes to actually measure it. Some of our estimations were really close too!

Unfortunately Mrs Kelly’s hands were so cold she didn’t take very many pictures today! 😔
