Week beginning 14th August

Welcome back to Mearns.

We’ve had a busy week getting to know each other, welcoming new class members and deciding on rules and routines. Β Whilst doing this we reminded ourselves of the UN convention on the Rights of the Child and created our rules with these in mind. We’ll have a display showing this next week.

Site visit πŸŒΎπŸ—οΈπŸ

Today we visited the Mctaggart and Mikel site across from our school following our campaign to preserve wildlife in new housing developments. We planted wildflower seeds and were the very first children to try out their brand new playground β˜€οΈ

Bikeability 2 🚲

Today in Bikeability we were starting to develop our control on the bike with one hand through high-fiving, or waving to our partner as we cycled past πŸ™ŒπŸΌ We also practised looking behind our shoulder as we would do in traffic and calling out the number that was held up behind us 🚲

Even more Coding πŸ’»

Today we continued to develop our coding skills through the addition of interactive titles to our scratch games/stories. We added code to the sprites which meant that letters or images could change colour, make sounds or change size πŸ‘€

Social Enterprise Visit πŸ’

Today we had a visit from social enterprise Scotland and we discussed current affairs in the world that we care about and what business we could create to help make the world a better place πŸ’πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
