Triple P

WHAT IS TRIPLE P?

Triple P is a parenting programme, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them. It’s all about making Triple P work for you.

WHAT DOES TRIPLE P DO?

The three Ps in ‘Triple P’ stand for ‘Positive Parenting Program’ which means your family life is going to be much more enjoyable.

Triple P helps you:

  • Raise happy, confident children
  • Manage misbehaviour so everyone in the family enjoys life more
  • Set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
  • Encourage behaviour you like
  • Take care of yourself as a parent
  • Feel confident you’re doing the right thing

Visit the official Triple P website for more information or speak to our in-house Triple P facilitator.

COLQUHOUN PARK TRIPLE P FACILITATOR

Rachael Donaghy is a fully qualified Triple P Facilitator and one of our Family Champions here at Colquhoun Park EYC.

Rachael has had lots of experience working with families over the years, and is available to offer advice and discuss strategies with parents and carers in developing and supporting our little people to grow into the best possible versions of themselves.

East Dunbartonshire – Supporting Families

Who are the Supporting Families Team and what do they do?

We are a small team based within the Education Early Years’ Service. Our role is to support all families who have children 0-10 years with any parenting queries, tips or strategies – no issue is too big or small.

Why do families access support through the team?

Most parents who access the service have children between 3 and 10 years old. For the majority of time parenting is rewarding but parents tell us sometimes it can be stressful. The Supporting Families Team offers free, informal, confidential support for every parent/carer either on a 1:1 basis or through a parenting group. Families do not need to be involved with any other services.

Parents can self-refer by emailing: parenting@eastdunbarton.gov.uk

Please Note:

If you are a resident of another Local Authority and your child attends an East Dunbartonshire school/nursery you can join a Triple P group (Day or Evening) and for 1:1 support you would access this from the Local Authority you live in.

Family Learning

East Dunbartonshire Council acknowledges the positive contribution parent/carers and families make to children’s learning. Family Learning supports parental participation and engagement in children’s learning at home, school and in their communities. It is crucial to raising attainment. It allows parents and families to become equal partners in their children’s learning

Benefits to participating in Family Learning experiences:

  • New skills
  • Increased confidence
  • Improved communication
  • Changed behaviours
  • Changed relationships within your community and family

Rachael

Hi everyone, my name is Rachael and I have worked at Colquhoun park EYC for since I qualified as a practitioner in 2019. I am currently carrying out the role of Acting Senior Early Years Worker and I am grateful to work in such a fantastic centre alongside the best staff team, children and families.

I absolutely relish in having the opportunity to watch our little learners grow and develop and being a part of it is a privilege. I love the power of storytelling, it is my favourite thing to take part in and seeing first-hand the children’s imagination coming to life is truly rewarding. The sheer enjoyment and curiosity that comes from it is amazing.

I recently qualified as Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) Facilitator and as such have taken on the role of Family Champion in centre. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or I can support you in any way.
