Family Interactive sessions

We are absolutely delighted to have been able to deliver our interactive sessions this month. Every session was well attended and the input as always invaluable. This months session focused on “Supporting Changes in Routine” exploring the things we can do to support our children during times of change. Some of the key takeaways from this session were;

  • Visual aids (now and next)
  • Social stories
  • Timers
  • Manageable expectations
  • Adult awareness of own emotions

These were all identified by our families as tools which support changes in routine for families.

On Wednesday 13th of December 2023 Colquhoun Park EYC proudly presents our Winter Wonderland. Slots have now been secured and tickets will be making their way home this evening.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In order to keep our families as safe as we possibly can to enjoy our event we have had to make some changes to collection/arrival arrangements for this day.

Collection

From 3pm your children will be taken to the school gym hall to allow for set up to commence. Anyone collecting from this time onwards, should do so from the school’s main entrance.

Parking / Access

One way systems will begin to be put in place from 3.30pm meaning that the Early years carpark will be closed from this time.

There will be one Entry/Exit point for the school which will be from the gates at the football pitches.

Families attending the Winter Wonderland will see signs dotted around the playground advising them where to go.

Once your time has come to an end at our Winter Wonderland you will be asked to exit using a one way system that has been put in place. This will take you out on to the EYC carpark and up on to Canniesburn Road.

If you need further details please ask a staff member who will be happy to help.

PAINTS

It has been brought to our attention that families are finding it difficult to get paints out of their children’s clothing after they have attended EYC. This was not something we were aware of as the paint we order is “washable” – clearly does not do what it says on the bottle!

I have reached out to other centres and this seems to be a new, but across the board problem.

Therefore, we have reverted back to old tricks of the trade and have began to add washing up liquid to our paints. Whilst we do also offer aprons for protection, we are aware that between the ages of 2-5, short of providing a full head to toe tarpaulin wrap, there is going to be little chance of us evading every child from this at some point. We are hopeful though that with our wee hack this should help with the removal should children come home with paint on their clothing.
