In the Moment Planning – How to save a Bee

In the moment, spontaneous or responsive planning is where some of our best and most memorable learning experiences come from. Having a highly experienced, skilled and creative workforce allows us to responded to the simplest of cues and turn it in to a magical learning experience for our children.

In our playground we found a Bee who was very tired, luckily one of our staff members knew just what to do and leapt in to action, taking a few of the children with her on this important rescue mission.

Did you know….

“If you find a tired bee in your home or outside, a simple solution of sugar and water will help revive an exhausted bee. Simply mix two tablespoons of white, granulated sugar with one tablespoon of water, and place on a spoon for the bee to reach”

Keeping our distance and helping our Bee
15 minutes later our Bee friend is beginning to move – We’ve done it!

Throughout this spontaneous experience our children demonstrated compassion, perseverance, and a real want to help others. We are so proud of our children daily, but this was a special moment; for us, for them and our new friend Mr. Bee.

Summer Planning – Why we do what we do (our beginning)

As a staff team we continuously review the opportunities and experiences our children have been exposed to throughout the year. This gives us great insight into areas that have been well covered such as literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing and areas that could be doing with further exploration. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions a lot of our more social and creative areas weren’t as explored as we would have liked, therefore there will be lots of opportunity throughout the coming weeks for each child to experience these through play, provocation and good old curiosity. Each week a member of our team will upload a recap of this onto each child’s individual online profile. This gives families a chance to see all the curricular areas that have been covered whilst our children simply feel like they have been having fun with their friends – exactly how it should be!

Individual next steps for children have now been closed and for the duration of the Summer the children’s learning will be tracked focusing more on breadth and depth of experience/opportunity appose to individual progression and development – please do not be confused by this though, we will still be scaffolding and tracking each child’s learning, just using a more holistic/generic approach to do so.

Supporting your child through divorce or separation

As with everything in life ‘honesty is the best policy’ even when they conversations that have to be had, can be difficult and upsetting ones.

Below is a list of websites and pages that can help support your family through difficult times of change. Information in these resources, will help with how to broach the subject of divorce or separation with your child(ren), in a way which will support them to understand what these changes may mean for them whilst also guiding you in how to create a safe space for your child(ren) to work through and process their emotions.

If you require any further support or would like to talk through any of the information you have found on this page, please remember our Family Champions Kady Morrow & Karen Anderson are always available in centre to offer an ear and share a cuppa.
