Exploring our Community

We are so lucky to have such wonderful spaces accessible to us throughout our community explore. One of our favourite places to go is the forest…. Can you guess where we are?!

“There is a growing body of research that shows that young children’s access to nature and outdoor play is positively associated with improved self-esteem, physical health, development of language skills and disposition to learning.”  My World Outdoors

Cooking up a storm in our forest kitchen hmm worm pie – yum! yum!
Team work makes the dream work! Lots of measuring, pouring, science, conversation and negotiation needed to make the most magical of meals for our friends.

Take A Break – Family Fund

Take a Break is Scotland’s short breaks Scheme to support the carers of disabled children, young people and their families.

It aims to provide families with the choice and opportunity to access a single or ongoing break from caring.

Take a Break grants enable families caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person to have the opportunity to choose how they would like to take a break, with a view to improving the quality of life, health and well-being of the whole family.

Westerton Care Home

In December 2020 we established an intergenerational link with our local care home at Westerton. Some of our preschool children began their connection with local residents by making some personal Christmas cards made with love and care. As a result, we have built the foundations of a strong relationship and have recently taken a walk to visit our friends at their window whilst adhering to safety regulations to prioritise everyone’s wellbeing. In the future, we hope to continue our correspondence and have our fingers crossed for more personal interactions.

Saying ‘hello’ to our new friends a Westerton Care Home.
