The Duty of Candour underpins the Scottish Government’s commitment to openness and learning which is vital to the provision of the safe, effective and person-centred health and social care.

 

A Duty of Candour procedure should be followed when an unexpected or unintended incident has occurred, where the incident results in:

  • Someone has died
  • Someone has permanently less bodily, sensory, motor, physiologic or intellectual functions
  • Someone’s treatment has increased because of harm
  • The structure of someone’s body changes because of harm
  • Someone’s life expectancy becomes shorter because of harm
  • Someone’s sensory, motor or intellectual functions is impaired for 28 days or more
  • Someone experienced pain or psychological harm for 28 days or more
  • A person needed health treatment in order to prevent them dying
  • A person needing health treatment in order to prevent other injuries

About Colquhoun Park EYC

  • Local authority centre with the registered capacity for 58 children at any one time.
  • Linked to Colquhoun Park Primary School.
  • Extended Year – Day care of children provided between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
  • 15 Early Years staff.

Procedures to follow in the case of an Incident where duty of candour would be actioned:

  • All incidents reported to Head Teacher and local authority
  • Reported as necessary to Care Inspectorate and EDC Health & Safety
  • Review of incident with involved staff
  • Risk assessment carried out
  • Adaptations carried out when necessary
  • Wellbeing Support available for staff affected by incident
  • Supports offered to children and families affected by incident

DATES FOR THE DIARY

 

1st December – ARRIVAL OF ELFIE

Our magical elf will make a return all the way from the NORTH POLE!

6th December – PANTO DAY

Cbeebies online panto. Children will choose between some of our Christmas favourites such as The Nutcracker, The Christmas Carol or a Christmas in Storyland.

8th December – CARE HOME VISIT (Christmas crafts)

A small number of children will accompany us to visit Westerton Care Home for the1st of what we hope to be many of our in-home visits and intergenerational workshops.

9th December – CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY

Children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers in to the EYC this day.

12th – 16th CHRISTMAS CRAFT WEEK

Children will have the chance to get involved with lots of different Christmas Crafting – glue & glitter galore!

15th December – CHRISTMAS PARTY / SANTA / SINGALONG

2 tickets will be allocated per child. All children to be dropped at centre for 9.30am where they will enjoy their Christmas party and snack. Parents will be invited to come back and join us at 10.30am for our Christmas singalong and visit from SANTA!

19th December – FOOD BANK COLLECTION

This will be the last day to drop in food for our foodbank before collection.

20th December – CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Festive Menu will be sent to parents. Children will have the option to pick from a Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings or a Sandwich. Both options will be followed by either ice cream or vegetarian raspberry or chocolate mousse slice.

21st December – CHRISTMAS MOVIE DAY

To round off our Busy Festive period children are invited to wear their pyjamas, fluffy slippers/socks or whatever their favourite comfy clothes may be and come along to our Christmas wind down… this will be a movies, hot chocolate and popcorn kind of day!

23rd December – CENTRE CLOSES FOR CHRISTMAS

We would like to wish all our families a very Happy Christmas! We look forward to welcoming you all back through our doors in 2023. Love Team Colquhoun x
