Easter week!

This week we had the petting zoo and comets loved petting the animals and seeing different types of animals. We did a Easter egg hunt and we even got to see the Easter bunny and chick.

We decorated some boiled eggs using paint or pens.  We made our own Easter marshmallows using chocolate sauce, sprinkles and of course marshmallows. We did some hard work that was Easter themed and the comets liked the work.

On Thursday we had our Easter disco with the other classes. We played pin the tail on the bunny, corners and pass the teddy chick around. We even got some dancing done. The comets enjoyed playing with the other classes and being outside.

We got to try on our titanic costume that we made ourselves and it was awesome!

We did our own Easter hunt on Friday and the comets did really well finding them and helping each other out.

Have a great Easter break comets.

Science week and Red Nose Day!

This week was science week and Red Nose Day. A big thank you to transition class for giving us science experiments each day. They were to do with the senses of the body! The comets loved the experiments! They loved it.

We celebrated st Patrick’s day by making our own hats and leprechaun faces!

On Wednesday they had the lovely mrs McDonald. They made up there own ideas and some of them are fantastic. They also did some lovely fish art.

We did some fruit tasting after our local walk. We cut up the fruit by ourselves and tasted them. We liked some and didn’t like others. We know how to cut fruit safely.

We also looked at the timeline of the titanic and sorted it out in order. We now know that the titanic was not in the water for long before it sunk. We looked how to build the titanic out of Lego and even tried to build our own boats out of Lego. They look fantastic.

We have had a very exciting and fun time in comets this week, with plenty of things going on.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Titanic and science…plus more

Hello everyone! It’s been a busy week with comets. On Tuesday and Wednesday we did a lot of hard work and smashed it. Well done comets!

We did a science experiment. We picked items from the class and discussed if we thought they would sink or float. We watched a video about density and why items float or sink. It was fun!

We did some life skills after our local walk. We are still learning to tie our laces and zip up our jackets. We are getting very confident with both.

We looked at the classes of the titanic and what they wore. The comets then picked what they would like to wear and made their own little titanic people. We then did some titanic art work.

Have a great weekend everyone.

World book day and more…

This week it was world book day and the comets did not disappoint! We had Willy Wonker, a police man, a Minecraft man, and not 1, but two spidermen! Comets found out why we do world book day and then we looked at books, picked one we liked and read it to each other. They then got to take the book home to share with their family.

we looked at LGBT history and all the reasons we celebrate LGBT. We then coloured in our own LGBT flags and LGBT themed pictures.

Using Fairtrade chocolate we made rice crispies and made a mess in the process. Comets cleaned up after themselves and enjoyed their wee treat after they made them. We looked at a video on how chocolate was made.

We did some numeracy and literacy games to make us more confident in these areas and we also did some numeracy and literacy hard work in relation to Fairtrade.

Some of the comets did some eco saving activities. We did some litter picking, turning off lights and recycling. The comets did great with this.

On Wednesday the comets were with Mrs McDonald and they made titanic posters…. They look amazing and our displayed in our classroom for everyone to see.

Well done comets for a great week and have a super weekend. See you Monday.

Purple day

We have had a great week in comets! We finished our salt dough monsters by painting them and are just waiting for them to dry.

We did some literacy and numeracy games and had fun playing with each other and playing as individuals. We are becoming more confident with the games and are getting a good understanding of them.

We celebrated Purple day as a class and went over what it was and who it was for. We then completed a couple of art activities and did a group photo with our purple torches. We even did a funny face one!

We did more activities for the titanic. We made our own bunting for the class and the display board. We coloured coordinated the titanic and made sure each area was correct to the right colour.  We made our own Tickets For the titanic and discussed first, second and third class and we all decided that we would like to be in first class. We watched a video of what the titanic looked like before it sunk.
We went to Kay park to play in the snow and did some sledging. We also played in the snow in the playground. After our snow play we did some life skills – we are learning to tie our laces! Comets are doing great with this.

We have started to look at fair trade and will keep looking at it and doing fair trade activities.

Have a great weekend – The comets class. A
