BGE S1 – S2
Our BGE units have been developed to link directly with My World of Work by introducing pupils to the different opportunities and careers available through Art and Design. We have selected the theme of ‘Film & Theatre’ with a focus on the Harry Potter series for a fun and engaging learning experience.
DrEAM IDL PROJECTS
Our units also embed cross curricular links through DrEAM – an IDL collective with Drama, English, Art & Music. The projects run from S1 – S3 helping to contextualise pupils learning by ensuring all tasks are relevant and purposeful to develop key skills for life and work.
COURSE TIMELINE
BGE S3 COURSE
By S3 our pupils have gained a breadth of knowledge and experience and are ready to begin a more in depth analysis of the design process. The focus for the year is to produce a completed National 4/5 Design Portfolio as well as studying the designers Julie Taymor and Theirry Mugler as part of the critical content of the course.
With increased personalisation and choice, pupils will design a piece of costume for a character they have selected. Throughout the year they will develop a range of practical skills through workshops and experimentation as well as learning how to illustrate their ideas in both 2D and 3D formats.
Pupils will also be encouraged to keep a sketchbook and will be set homework tasks to continue to develop their observational drawing and media handling skills.
