SLC P7 – S1 Transition 2023

All of the staff and pupils at the Supported Learning Centre are really looking forward to welcoming the new S1 group in August! To help prepare for this, a series of transition events will be offered throughout the months of May and June. These will include regular visits to the Supported Learning. During the visits P7 pupils will meet with the teachers and Classroom Assistants in SLC, as well as the other pupils who will be in the S1 class. There will be fun activities to help everyone get to know one another and become familiar with the SLC.

In addition to these visits, P7 pupils will be joining us at SLC for two full transition days, on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th June 2023. On these days pupils will have the chance to find out about their new timetable, and experience a typical day in SLC. There will be more opportunities to get to know staff and pupils in SLC, and to do some activities in a range of subjects such as English, Maths, Art, Music, Health and Wellbeing and Outdoor Learning.

Parents of P7 pupils who will be transitioning to SLC are invited to attend a P7 Information Evening at the Robert Burns Academy, on Wednesday 24th May 2023. We will ensure that parents get all the information they need about the Robert Burns Academy and the SLC during these visits. There will also be a chance to visit the department and go on a tour of the Academy.  Mrs Devine or Mr Maclean will be in touch to arrange individual visits for any parents who are unable to attend the Information Evening.

You can find out more information about the staff in SLC, our school day, uniform, curriculum and key SLC initiatives and priorities in the different sections of our website. We have also put together the following short video which provides a virtual tour of our department. -(video link to be added here)

We hope that you find this information helpful. Please do not hesitate to get in contact with Mr Maclean or Mrs Devine if you have any questions or concerns about the transition process:
