Our P6 class visited Cumnock Heritage Museum and Emergency One to learn about transport developments over time and explore “My World of Work”.
At the museum, we discovered how transport has changed from early horse-drawn carts and steam engines to modern cars and emergency vehicles. We saw how improvements in design, speed and safety have made travel and rescue services much more efficient over the years.
At Emergency One, we learned how fire engines are designed and built for different emergency situations, and how teamwork, engineering and technology all play a part in keeping communities safe. It was interesting to see real-life links between what we learn in class and jobs in engineering and manufacturing.
The visit helped us understand how transport has developed and gave us a better idea of the skills and careers involved in creating and using modern emergency vehicles.
