What a fantastic Health Week we have had! Throughout the week, we have enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities, including visits from Childsmile, the Fire Service and Opticians, litter picking, laser tag, a silent disco, Kurling, food tasting with the Cotton Trail and our amazing family fun day!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the visitors, organisations and community partners who gave up their time to make Health Week so special. Your support helped provide memorable experiences and valuable learning opportunities for our children. They all had a wonderful week!
This has been another busy week in Primary 1 with lots of exciting learning taking place.
In Literacy, we were introduced to the ‘ph’ digraph. We learned that two letters can work together to make one sound and enjoyed taking part in lots of activities to help us recognise and use our new sound. You could ask us if we can think of any words containing ‘ph’ at home.
It is wonderful to see how much progress we have all made in Primary 1. We are so proud of our work and are recognising our own progress with our writing targets.
In Numeracy, we have been practising counting in 10s and becoming more confident at spotting number patterns. We have also been learning about symmetry. We explored lines of symmetry and created our own symmetrical pictures by making both sides match.
As part of Health & Wellbeing, we have been learning all about our bodies and how they help us every day. We also discussed personal boundaries and learned about our “space bubbles”. We talked about the importance of respecting other people’s personal space and how we can help everyone feel safe and comfortable.
We all enjoyed singing this wee song about personal space and boundaries.
Here are some more pictures from across the week, including art with Mrs Ferguson and some parachute fun in P.E!
