We wanted to share Onthank Early Childhood Centre’s recent post. Onthank Primary’s staff, children and families pass on our deepest condolences to Lorna’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.
https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/ea/onthankeccmain2017/2020/09/01/sad-news-2/
Our return to school during this time has provided us with an opportunity to transform some of outdoor spaces as we further develop our outdoor learning at Onthank.
Staff kindly volunteered over the weekend to help begin to transform our playground spaces as we look to provide our young people with a more stimulating environment.
Across the school we have been focussing on the Health and Wellbeing of our pupils and ensuring that everyone feels happy and settled in their new classes.
Some classes will be aware of the story ‘Under the Mask’ written by Emma Cahill. This story involves three loveable superheroes who teach children how to recognise and manage their emotions. Blaze, Crash and Rustle teach children how to activate their superpowers (coping mechanisms) to help deal with their strong feelings in a safe way.
Emma Cahill has recorded a very special message for everyone at Onthank Primary School. She was so happy to hear that her story was being enjoyed by so many children.
Emma has written a new book called ‘Under the Mask: Inside Feelings’ which looks just as lovely as the first book and offers lots of opportunity for discussion.
Here is a link to Emma reading the story below.
Have a great week everyone!;-)
