World Porridge Day @ Onthank

Onthank will be taking part in World Porridge Day to celebrate the charity Mary’s Meals UK.

All children have the right to an education and food. Mary’s Meals created World Porridge Day to celebrate the different meals we have. What we want to do is make sure every child gets one meal at school and that everyone with food that isn’t eaten is shared with children lacking even the most basic things.

We encourage everyone to watch a video from Mary’s Meals:

So, how are Onthank going to support?

Our pupils will be given the option of delicious porridge at the following times and dates:

Thursday 8th October
9.30am P4 CLASSROOM
9.45am P5 CLASSROOM
10am P6 CLASSROOM

Friday 9th October
9.15am P3 & P7 CLASSROOM
9.15am The Centre CLASSROOM
9.30am P1 DINING HALL
9.30am P2 MAIN HALL

On Thursday and Friday next week Pupil Council members will stand outside with buckets for donations of any spare change you have. The money will self-isolate during the October holiday and be sprayed before counting.

Thank you to everyone for all your lovely donations.

Go Green @ Onthank Primary – Friday 2 October

Go Green! @ Onthank Primary – Friday 2 October

MacMillan 30th Anniversary

Traditionally at Onthank Primary School our MacMillan Coffee Morning is a fun, whole school community event which brings families together and raises funds for a special cause. Unfortunately due to current Government Guidance we cannot welcome you for Heather’s famous shortbread, but this day will come soon.

Instead, our catering staff will be offering lime jelly or MacMillan cupcakes as part of the lunch menu for our young people to enjoy.

Our Pupil Council also thought we could honour MacMillan by having a dress down day wearing an item of green clothing (if you have any!) and making a donation. Donations will be gratefully received with warm thanks via ParentPay for Go Green @ Onthank!

We specify NO FOOTBALL STRIPS.

You could also host your own “Coffee & Catch Up” with your family in the comfort of your own home and email a photo to eadavid.mcilwraith1@glow.sch.uk as you spend quality time together.

Thank you for your support and generosity as Onthank Primary continue to safely fundraise for charity and keep the community spirit alive during this time.
