Pupils showed they are capable at identifying symmetry, completing symmetrical patterns and created their own using a range of materials including ICT. Everyone was on task and on track!

P5M the ‘appy bunch
P5M were delighted to have an input on coding and app development today. The visit to P5M was down to Gemma Davidson winning the school’s app design competition. A huge congratulations to Gemma, who’s app, Bee ‘appy, is available to download on the App Store and android play store.
P5i Maths-tastic
Today pupils concluded their learning on Perimeter by measuring irregular shapes. Using lengths of wool, pupils were able to measure around the awkward shapes then measure the wool used, to find the perimeter: a task they seem to have enjoyed.
Next we will be looking at Area and different ways to measure it.
P5D/N Get, Set, Go!
We have been learning a lot about time in class. Today we were estimating how long it would take to complete a variety of activities and then using stopwatches to time ourselves.
P5 Do Zumba!
P5D/N Do Red Nose Day
Don’t they look fabulous!
P5i Egg boxes required
If possible, could pupils bring an empty egg box to school on Monday for a craft lesson planned for later in the week? Preferably cardboard as they are easier to paint.
Many thanks
Mrs Irving
Brilliant bodies!
P5D/N started their new topic today, the human body! We were investigating the skeleton system and started to learn the names of some bones.
Pupils worked in groups to asssemble a skeleton and name the bones. Super effort this afternoon!
P5i Directions
Dear Parents/Carers
A few pupils have been asking about their spelling homework saying they do not understand what to do.
Children have to use their words in a drawing, for example:
They can draw a house but instead of lines for the doors and windows, they should write their spelling words in that shape. Or draw a flower with their words as petals. They can be as creative as they like – as long as all words are spelled correctly. P5E have the same task so it will be interesting to see who has been the most creative. I’m biased, so I’m saying P5i 🙂
Pupils have been map reading and learning about directions and co-ordinates. Today they plotted the route from the school front door at the office, up to our classroom. They thought it was a good idea to give you those directions so you could follow them on parent’s night.
If no one turns up, then I’ll know they were wrong!
Just a reminder that there are still appointments available for Parent’s Night on 21st March between 4:30 and 6:00 or between 7:30 and 8:00. As I would love to meet with all parents to discuss the ongoing progress of pupils, if these times or date do not suit, please ‘phone the office to arrange a time that does.
