P5E Active maths:Learning about decimals

P5E having been learning about decimals, focusing first on converting tenths into decimals and vice versa.

Pupils were matching jigsaw pieces showing matching decimal, mixed number or fraction with its place on a number line. Another activity involved using an Active Maths board game where pupils were to achieve 4 in a row after converting a mixed number into a decimal correctly. The third activity gave pupils a chance to use Sumdog or Topmarks maths. The class worked really hard today.

P5E Relaxing and working in the lovely sunshine!

P5E enjoyed working in the sunshine this morning. As part of digital learning week pupils are working together to create PowerPoint stories to show their P2 buddies.

Today’s session was all about planning our stories using storyboards. Some pupils have started from scratch while others are retelling a fairytale using their own words and images. Our classroom was so warm we took our work outdoors!

P5i making maths matter

Our Mini Mathematicians were out in the sun today, clipboards in hand, as they looked for clues and solved problems.

They were then tasked with identifying 2D and 3D shapes. Surprisingly, they all found this task so much easier than the one planned for indoors.

Tying a tie proved very challenging for some.  As they need to tie a tie for their class novelty race on Sports Day, could I please ask that you help your little treasure to practice this skill at home?

P5i Bagged it for the environment

Today we focused on the issue of plastic bags and the harm they do to the environment. We also looked at some  ways we could recycle  them and made friendships bracelets from

3 used bags. Not as adventurous as Marks and Spencer, who make staff fleeces out of theirs, but we enjoyed the challenge of twisting and plaiting strips of plastic to make our bracelets.
