The pupils (and teachers) had lots of fun at our Christmas party today. We saw some impressive dance moves throughout the afternoon, fun competition in Pass the Parcel and Musical Arms and had a tasty snack kindly provided by the school. Check out the festive fun below:

P5E update
Primary 5E have been working very hard over term 2. Here are some of the things we have been doing:
Researching Africa. Pupils were given a country to research and then present their work to the class. Their work is our class display !
We have also been exploring fractions of quantities and pupils were asked to decorate a Christmas tree based on the fraction description assigned.
And finally we had some fun creating a snow globe scene using chalk, crayons, pastels, glitter and jewels. We are not all finished yet so here’s a small selection of completed snow globes.
P5E are such a talented bunch!
P5E Christmas Fayre Craft-Handmade Pottery
P5E have been working very hard on making their craft for the Christmas fayre. We have decided to make clay pinch pots since we have been learning these skills in art with Miss Dasgupta. Our head of research Breckin has taken some photos to show you our hard work and enthusiasm. Breckin and Lewis K also visited some classes to collect research on what these pots can be used for and how much we will sell them at – the most popular suggestion was £1.
The pupils in p5 E will have an opportunity to buy one of their pots before going on sale at the fayre.
P5E 2D shapes – right angles and tiling
P5 E have been exploring the properties of 2D shapes.
Pupils are being encouraged to look for right angles and tiling in the real world – please encourage your child to spot these at home and when you are out and about.
Pupils can share with the class what they have seen by talking about it (you could make a list), taking pictures to show us (you can bring in a pen drive, upload on to your own e-portfolio, print it out) or maybe even illustrate/draw it.
Thank you!
Miss Ellis

Dance and Yoga in P5E
We have been learning some traditional African dances in P.E-check out our fabulous moves:
We have also been developing our flexibility by practising yoga:
The theme today was Harry Potter, it was great fun!
Adventurous Adverbs in P5E
P5 E have been learning about adverbs and how to use them. The pupils were sent on a hunt and had to think of suitable adverbs to describe the verb in the middle of each page.
Pupils who finished early were to use a thesaurus to help generate more adverbs.
We also played a fun game to revise nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We created silly sentences that made us all laugh.
P5E Active Learning
P5E have been continuing The Butterfly Lion and this week learned more about the 4 biomes in Africa, the novel’s main setting. It wasn’t an easy task though – pupils had to use their skimming and scanning skills to find the information and report back to the class. There was also some code cracking. As always the pupils made a great effort and most enjoyed the ‘hunt’ for information.
P5E and P5B African country research homework
In addition to the homework set by the class teacher (check the homework slip in your jotter) P5E and P5B pupils have also now been assigned their topic research task:
Research interesting facts about an African country (assigned in class). This can include the following:
*Location in Africa *Population *Size *Climate/Weather *Popular food and drink *Culture *Religions *Languages spoken*Tourism/Famous landmarks *Famous People *Animals in that region
This list is not exhaustive – it may just be a fact you think your classmates would find interesting. Pupils should also think about using non-fiction features to sort their information (e.g. heading, sub-heading, bullet points, pictures/illustrations)
Pupils can choose how to present their information to the class (e.g. PowerPoint, poster, fact file etc.).
It should be ready for Friday 30th November.
This means that all P5 classes have been assigned a similar task, although the date of completion may differ so please double check the date your class has set.
Good luck!
