The whole school will be visiting Ochiltree Cattle Show on Wednesday 22nd April and for the first time giving out special class certificates for the pupils chosen best in show. This is thanks to Mr Sloan and the committee who worked with the school to develop our pupils knowledge of stock and build their understanding of the rural economy. This is a highlight of our school year and we are very much looking forward to being part of the show again.
Pupils should come to school dressed for the weather and have on appropriate footwear to walk down to the show ground.
We look forward to another very successful show.
The school is aware that there will be a Woody’s ice cream van at the show. Given that this falls outside of school catering it would be up to parents to decide if they want their child to purchase an ice cream, and pupils would be responsible for their own monies. We are aware that there are limited hand washing facilities at the show and have no clarity on allergens. All medications required will go along with pupils as usual.
If you intend to send your child with money for an ice-cream on Wednesday please could you complete and return the permission slip being sent home in school bags today. If no permission slip is received, pupils will not be permitted to purchase any items from the ice cream van.
Thank you

This year, our pupils have already taken part in a competition to see who’s art work will be selected to be published as the front cover of the show day schedule. We await the announcement of the winning design.
Our pupils will also be visiting the show on the day, weather permitting, to see some animal judging and to view their craft handiwork on display in the bowling club. Further details will follow.
The Ochiltree Cattle Show Baking and Handicrafts Committee would like to invite parents and children to have a go and enter their creations to the show. Further details on the section catagories and how to enter are on the form attached.

Please note that last week was the last Church Lunch of the winter season.
Lunches will start back up again in the autumn.
On behalf of the parents who sent their children to Church Lunches, the school would like to thank Ochiltree Parish Church for hosting our pupils each week and for their kind donation of Easter eggs.
Thank you

Please see the following information which has been received from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland regarding bonfires and fireworks:

Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the bonfire and firework season, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland are working together to ensure the safety of our communities. In previous years, we have seen incidents of firework-related anti-social behaviour (ASB), and we are asking for your support in helping to prevent this.
Please take a moment to review the following guidance:
Fearless.org is a youth-focused platform run by Crimestoppers that empowers young people across Scotland to report crime anonymously and safely, helping to prevent antisocial behaviour and promote community safety.
Fireworks Legislation – Key Points:
(Adult fireworks exclude caps, cracker snaps, indoor fireworks, novelty matches, party poppers, serpents, and throw downs.)
Our shared goal is to ensure that residents feel safe and protected during this period.
Any behaviour that endangers people or property will not be tolerated.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Kind regards,
