As part of Scottish Book Week we had a competition to name famous authors. We have decided to have another quiz next month and we are all going to look more closely at the names of the authors when we are reading books from the class library.

Here were our winning groups.

As part of Anti-bullying week we have been recoding times when we have been kind to someone and times when someone has been kind to us.

Last week we looked at materials that are absorbent and materials that are waterproof. We worked as a group to record our ideas.

We then used what we had learned to design and create waterproof containers. We tested them out and made changes where needed.

We have been learning about the different ways that animals have adapted to life in extreme climate zones. We learned that adaptations can be physical or behavioural. We used our understanding to make posters.

We also used our copy and paste skills to make PowerPoint title pages.

We were travelling, jumping and landing in gymnastics today. We were also practising our forward rolls, backward rolls and cartwheels.

We have been learning strategies to make number bonds to 20 and 100.

We had a chat about Cop26 and explored ways in which we can make a difference. We each decided on things we can do to help heal and protect our world.

We were learning about the different continents and oceans.

We then looked at the different climate zones.

 
When talking about the climate map we came up with amazing words like – thermal. We worked out that counties nearest the equator are very warm.

We coloured the different climate zones and added them to our continents booklet.

Our Silver Award targets for this fortnight are –

1,) At home, keep my room, toys, computer games etc. tidy and organised. (S1.3)

2.)  Complete a short research project on a subject I am interested in to present to the class. (S1.1)

We are now working on our SILVER targets as many children have achieved BRONZE! A HUGE well done to them.  The Bronze target that still has to be achieved by some is to complete homework regularly.

Aryn taught the class how to make an origami cup. He learned this skill at the scouts. He was brilliant at explaining and demonstrating.  We used the visualiser so that we could see the demonstration on the big screen. We had lots of fun.
