MULTIPLICATION – VERTICAL CALCULATIONS

Make up some multiplication questions of your own.  Make up a 3 digit number and then decide on the times table that you want to multiply it by.

Remember to carry your tens and hundreds if the column value is greater than 9. Here is an example to remind you how to carry out these calculations.

ROUNDING NUMBERS TO THE NEAREST 10

Take any 2 digit or 3 digit number and round it to the nearest 10. Write your number in the middle and then decide on the two multiples of 10 it is in-between. Record those numbers.  Next decide which number it is closest to.

Here is an example.

54 is between 50 and 60.  It is closest to 50.

759 is between 750 and 760. It is closest to 760.

MAKE 10

Use the make 10 strategy to add 9 to these numbers.  Once you have done these try making up questions of your own.  Simply choose a number and add 9 to it.

TIME

Learn this rhyme to help you remember the number of days in each month.

Do some research to find the answers to these questions.
