Home Learning

Hello everyone…..

As the end of term is drawing close,  please ensure to keep checking on the ECC and PS Glow blogs for information.  We understand this may be an anxious time for many families and that you may have lots of questions. Please know that once we have all relevant information regarding the return in August we will be in touch.

Parent Club is a great resource to keep up to date on information and there is a dedicated FAQ page.

Going forward until end of month we have made up some activity ideas to keep the children learning at home.

Egg and Spoon race 🥚🥄

Good morning 💙💚💛❤️💜

For today’s sporting challenge it is the Egg & Spoon race.

You will need to set up a finish line and the aim is to get to the finish line as fast as you can without dropping the object on the spoon. Now this can be an egg (perhaps your grown up could hard boil it first 😁) or you could use a potato, a small ball..whatever you can find to put on the spoon.

Hope you all have fun with today’s challenge. Don’t forget to do your warm up that Michelle posted on Mondays blog.

Let me know how you get on.

📚Cosy Story-All Groups❤💛💚💙💜

Good Morning Everyone 🤗

It’s not a very pleasant day out there today after all that lovely sunshine.  ☔☔

Today why not choose your favourite story book , find a comfy place , get cosy and cuddle up with your big people to read a story.   Talk about your favourite characters in the story and what happens throughout.  Did anything silly happen ?  Were any characters a little cheeky?

I miss reading you all stories at nursery and look forward to  being able to again soon.

One of my favourite stories to read is Room on the Broom .

Have a lovely day.

Information for Parents/Carers who have pupils going into Primary 1

I hope you and your family are well. Thank you for your ongoing support and all your efforts in encouraging your child to do their work at home.

We know that you will be keen to have more information regarding the way ahead, we will endeavour to inform you as soon as possible, this is particularly of interest to our Parents/Carers whose children are coming into Primary 1 or our ECC.

I am sure that you are following the First Minister’s daily information sessions and updates on the East Ayrshire website, which will keep you abreast of any developments.

Be assured, a member of staff will contact all P1 parents individually via the telephone prior to the end of term to discuss plans for August.  We will also create an  online P1 induction film for your information regarding P1.

From 1st June applications will be accepted for the Best Start Grant – School Age Payment, worth £250 to eligible families for children about to start school in Primary 1 to help with the costs of a child starting school. This money can be used for anything that families may need at this key stage in a child’s life.

You do not need to take up a place in school after the summer to get this payment but any parent who has deferred entry until August 2021 should also make the application NOW if their child’s birthday falls between 1 March 2015 and 29 February 2016.

When to apply for School Age Payment depends on when your child was born, not when they start school so any parent who defers their child’s entry to school to next year may miss out if they don’t apply now. Applications will open on 1 June 2020 until 28 February 2021 for children who were born between 1 March 2015 and 29 February 2016.

To apply, the parent/guardian needs to call a Freephone number 0800 182 2222 and leave their details. They will then receive a call back to make the application

Good Morning Everyone 🤗

As the weather has picked up again and its toasty hot I thought   you could make your own fans to help keep you cool.  Easy Peasy to make.

All you need is paper and anything you want to use to decorate.  We have made these before in nursery some of you boys and girls may remember how to make them☺

All you do is decorate your piece of paper how you would like to. Then fold little bits of the paper forward and then back on itself. 🖍🖌 open up when all folded and you have a fan shape. You can put a gold at the bottom to make a handle.

You can cut a paper plate on half and use a stick as a handle too. Lots of options.

If anyone struggles let me know and I will video me doing it to help you  🤗

Have lots of fun i  the sun and please remember to wear your suncream and Sun hat’s ☉ 😎

Transitions

Good morning ❤️💜💚💛💙

I know in these uncertain times that some of you may be feeling anxious if your child is due to start Primary 1 after the summer. Following on from the First Minister’s briefing last week you may be wondering what this means now?

There are a lot of questions that have yet to be answered and as soon as the School & ECC have these answers this will allow us to put together a plan to ensure that this transition is a positive experience for both children and families, despite the challenges of Covid-19.

We will also be looking at how best to support children transitioning from home or another establishment into the ECC, as well as returning children.

I would like to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding. Please remember that we are all in this together and going forward the team at Hurlford PS & ECC will endeavour to do our very best in supporting families through these challenging times.

As soon as a plan is set we will be in touch with families.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
