The red and blue group have been busy this week…
They explored the nativity story!

Ask them if they can tell you the story of how baby Jesus was born.
Exploring sensory play and outdoors.

As we are unable to have Santa visit our school this year, Santa has agreed to come into the Community to wave to our children in our ECC and Primary.
On Thursday 17th December from 5pm to approx. 6pm, Santa will be driven along the following route to wave to our pupils. Staff will also come along too and join in the fun!
Why not come out into your garden or pavement and wave to Santa as he goes by? If Santa, is not visiting your street, please find a safe place to stand along the route and wave. Please note that Santa and staff will not be able to stop.
It is very important that everyone remembers social distancing and only stand in your family bubble.
The route is as follows:

This event has been carefully risk assessed and has been organised by the school, in discussion with East Ayrshire’s Events & Resilience Officer.
We hope that this event will bring some festive cheer to the community and that you will enjoy waving to Santa!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
We here at the ECC are very much missing singing and practicing our usual Christmas songs.
The children have still been singing these on their own but we are unable to teach them the songs in large groups this year due to COVID restrictions.
I have put together some Christmas songs if you wish to sing with the children at home.
When Santa got stuck up the chimney.
He began to shout,
You girls and boys,
Won’t get any toys,
If you don’t pull me out.
There’s soot on my back,
And my beard is all black,
My nose is tickling too.
When Santa got stuck up the chimney,
Achoo, Achoo, Achoo.
Poor old Santa
Poor old Santa; Poor old Santa
He got stuck; he got stuck,
Coming down the chimney
Coming down the chimney
What tough luck; what tough luck
Jingle Bells
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride,
In a one horse open sleigh oh!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
Hurrah for dear old Santa Claus
Hurrah for Christmas Day!
Jingle Bells
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way ha ha ha
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names;
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,
You’ll go down in history.

The green, yellow and purple group have been learning about the circus. They were juggling balls, walking on stilts, spinning plates, walking on a tight rope and jumping through a hoop of fire.

All the boys and girls also put on a show for the red and blue group!!…what do you think of their circus skills?? 🎪 🤡
The red and blue group were talking about posting letters and cards.
So we made a post office in the ECC, made our own post box, sent each other cards and letters. The children then wanted to write a letter to the Green, Purple and Yellow group.
We took a walk to the shop to buy some stamps and posted our letter.

This is what the red and blue group wanted in their letter!!……….

The letter took one day to come back to the ECC for the green, yellow and purple group to read.

Santa’s letter!!🎅🏻

The children today received a blank Santa letter home with them. If they wish to receive a reply from Santa please fill out the letter and post it in the special Hurlford ECC postbox in the orange hut before Friday 11th December. 📮
Any letters posted after this date may not receive a reply! So please remember before Friday 11th December 2020.
Santa is looking forward to reading these 😁
Here is some information on upcoming events within the ECC.
We have had a few parents ask about Christmas cards for the children. We will be able to do this but due to the current restrictions this will just be slightly different this year. The ECC postbox will be available from the 1st December 2020 for the children to post their cards. We will empty the post box on a Monday ONLY and send these home with the children on that date. We ask that the last date for any Christmas cards to be brought in to be Friday 11th December, any after this date unfortunately would not be handed out to the children.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

If you are looking for something a little extra this Christmas with usual plans not going ahead, why not try this out!!
Santa’s coming to Hurlford!

Hello everyone,
As you will all be aware the weather is starting to get colder. The children have access to outdoors every day in the ECC. We have weather proof outdoor suits for each individual child that they keep at their peg and use daily.
We are asking if parents/carers could supply a hat and a pair of gloves for their child that will be kept in the ECC for the children to use daily. Please ensure these have your child’s name or initials are on the items.

If you need any support in this matter please speak with a member of staff!
